Ava wore a stern expression. The scowl on her face revealed her displeasure.
"I have been knocking on the door," she said. "You didn't respond. I came in to see if you were all right. Should I come after a while?"
"No, uh… I am all set for the meeting." Declan got to his feet.
They came to the office. Declan sat down in his chair, and Ava sat across from him.
"Are you still upset about the smart port project?" Ava asked. Her scowl remained on her face.
Declan held her gaze. "I am totally disappointed with my dad. But I'm not thinking about it at the moment. It's something else."
"Would you mind telling me? I may be able to help you." Her expression softened a bit.
His pupils constricted as he stared at her. "Why are women so complicated?" These words effortlessly rolled out of his mouth.
"Excuse me! We are not complicated. Men are complicated to understand."
