It was nearly 11 o'clock when she arrived home. Her heart was thumping as she thought she would encounter Declan in the hall. To her great relief, he was not there.
"Phew…" She walked into her room, her hand on her sternum. "Thank heavens. He has gone to sleep."
"You have finally remembered how to get back home." The thick, familiar voice startled her.
She turned around and saw Declan coming out of the kitchen with a bottle of water in his hand.
Declan stood in front of her. "Everyone in the family was expecting your presence at dinner."
"I had dinner with Nicholas," she said sternly as if she had done nothing wrong, although she felt a little guilty for coming back so late.
"This Friday, I am attending a party. I want you to accompany me." Declan changed the topic because he didn't want to hear anything about the Griffins.
"Why me?"
