His last word kept ringing in her ears. Julia was speechless. Her thoughts were wild. She was happy, assuming he had finally recognized her value and would apologize to her. At the same time, she was doubtful.
A proud man like Alexander wouldn't say sorry so easily.
She withdrew her gaze. "I haven't informed Mom. She will be worried if she doesn't find me in the morning."

Julia looked back at Nicholas. "His fever has gone down. He will be fine soon."
Alexander became more and more restless when he saw Julia was going to leave. "What if he wakes up and asks about you?" he asked, desperate to stop her.
