Inside a presidential suite…
Alexander returned to the hotel a little earlier than usual. When he entered the bedroom, he noticed Julia putting Nicholas to sleep. He stood there and watched them with a slight smile on his face.
Julia was reading Nicholas a bedtime story. Nicholas initially listened to the story with interest, but his big eyes gradually shrunk, and he soon drifted into sleep.
Julia closed the storybook and put it aside. She then lay down, gently brushing his forehead.
Alexander watched everything quietly. In his heart, he felt a strange sense of comfort. It was not the first time he had seen her put Nicholas to sleep.
Julia had often read Nicholas a bedtime story before putting him to sleep. She had occasionally dozed off with Nicholas, and Alexander had to wake her up to send her home.
