Natasha went to find him after she finished cooking dinner. She noticed him sitting on the bed, looking at something on his phone.
His eyes were filled with tears.
Natasha felt sad to see him like this. She peered at the phone and saw Amber's photo. Jealousy crept into her mind inexplicably.
Amber's death was unquestionably shocking. It saddened everyone in the family, including her. But she never thought that Earl would behave this way. He was grieving as if he had lost his beloved.
She slowly took the phone from his hand and put it aside. Her action drew his attention.
"Dinner is ready," she said quietly.
Earl didn't feel like eating. "Go and eat."
"And you?"
He shook his head. "I don't want to eat."
Natasha sat down next to him. "I know you are sad. Amber's sudden death is heartbreaking. But what happened has happened. We cannot change it. Please come and have something… at least some soup."
