"Because I don't want to raise my child without the support of his father. I have faith in you, and I believe you will love my baby as much as you will love your and Natasha's."
She didn't want Caroline to have any influence over her son.
"You shower your unconditional love on the orphan kids," she said, setting aside her bitter feelings for Caroline. "You will be able to love my son unconditionally."
This side of Amber was completely unknown to Earl. It seemed more reasonable to him than the rude and rowdy side he was used to. Things would have turned out differently if she had been like this from the beginning. Their marriage wouldn't have come to the point of dissolution.
Her demands were strange, but he thought about it carefully.
"Why are you silent?" She yanked on his forearm and shook him. "Say something."
Earl came out of his trance. "I will give your baby my name. I promise to love him as my own child."
