Yasmin's fever subsided in a couple of days, and she started going to college again. She kept her head low as she walked toward the classroom, with Louw close behind. She was anxious that Lisa would approach her and call her out.
How was she going to talk to her? Could she avoid her and walk away?
"Yasmin…"
She stopped, clasping the bag straps. Her heart was thumping in her ears. She lifted her head and noticed Lisa standing beside the classroom. She wished she could run over and hug her, tell her she was fine, and reassure her that everything would be okay. But she remained steadfast in her place.
Lisa hesitated to approach her since Louw was right beside her.
Yasmin pressed her lips together. It was difficult for her to walk away from her best friend. She had vowed last night not to disobey Declan, who had most likely told Louw not to let her hang out with Lisa. She was in a dilemma. Her heart ached as she noticed tears in her eyes.
