Yasmin put the drawing book down and stood up with the help of a crutch. She grew worried, looking at his serious expression. "Who is it?"
"Sister Emily," Declan replied, hanging up the call. "Dad is awake."
"Huh!" She grinned. "I will go with you."
"Yasmin…"
"Please…"
"It is late. I will take you tomorrow, promise."
Yasmin pouted, displeased.
"I may not be able to come home tonight," he said, his hands on her shoulders. "You will be tired. And I don't want your leg pain to come back."
Yasmin didn't say anything afterward. She also didn't want to worsen her condition.
"Okay. Call me and let me know about Dad's condition." She hugged him.
"Hmm." He hugged her back. "Sleep on time." With that, he walked out in a hurry.
Declan drove speedily to the hospital. He wanted to get there before Caroline or Derrek. It could be possible that Caroline would say something to Gerald once again that could disturb him.
