Amber returned home and placed the divorce papers in the locker. She became selfish and had no desire to hand them to Earl. The chances of reviving the already dead relationship seemed nearly impossible, but she was willing to give it a shot.
Earl had stayed in her room for one night. He could spend more nights with her if she worked harder.
"Last try. Maybe he will forgive me." She hoped.
She went to see if the housekeeper was done cooking.
"Are you hungry?" The housekeeper asked. "Let me cut you some apples. The food will be ready soon."
"No… I am not hungry. Let me know when you are done cooking." She crossed the hall and sat on the sofa, taking a magazine.
The housekeeper was both surprised and relieved to see her behave normally. He thought the medications were starting to work, and Amber was getting better.
