Yasmin put all the dresses she had tried on into the shopping cart. She didn't stop here. She took two pairs of muses, sandals, and matching belts.
Derrek smiled with satisfaction, looking at the invoice. But he wanted to spend some more. He took her to a jewelry store after the payment.
Yasmin peeked at him. She wondered if this man had hit his head somewhere. Looking at his proud demeanor, she couldn't help but roll her eyes.
'Rich, spoiled boy,' she muttered to herself. She didn't want to buy anything, but she enjoyed watching the lovely jewelry.
A set of half-broken heart necklaces displayed on the counter caught her attention. 'His' was carved on one half of the heart and 'Hers' on the other half. A smile gradually crept over her lips as she picked up the box and stared at the set.
"Do you like it?" Derrek murmured, leaning towards her.
"Yes," she replied in a trance.
"Will you give me the other half?" His eyes glittered with mischief.
Yasmin's smile faded straight away. She glared at him. "Dream on."
"You are heartless," he complained. "I am accompanying you shopping. I am even paying the bills. But you can't give me that half heart to me."
"This is mine, and this is Declan's," she said, holding up the half-heart pendants. "Together, we are complete." She joined the halves. "Like this. It will remind me that I am his. And it will remind him that he is nothing without me." She grinned from ear to ear.
Derrek smiled, watching her smile. "Declan is lucky to have you as his wife. He should cherish you." He turned his focus to the salesman. "Pack it."
Yasmin handed the box over to the salesperson.
After some time, they finally came out of the mall and got into the car.
Yasmin looked at the carry bags on the backseat and sighed. "I have never spent so much in one day."
"Hahaha…" Derrek burst out laughing. "It is not done yet. Let's check out some contact lenses." He started the engine and drove away.
"No way. I am comfortable with my glasses. Take me home."
"Trust me, you look great without the glasses. Do you want Declan to fall for you or not?"
Yasmin couldn't think of anything to say. She desired Declan's love, but she had no idea how to earn it. She considered trying Derrek's method to entice Declan.
"Okay. I am also eager to know how I look without glasses."
Derrek drove straight to a clinic of an optician.
It didn't take them long to arrive at a clinic. Declan texted Derek while Yasmin was getting her eye check-up.
'Your wife wanted to go shopping, and I accompanied her. It should be you to take her shopping, not me. Why don't you spend some time with her? Anyway, I paid the bills.'
His lips quirked as he hit the 'send' button.
Buzz-Buzz…
Declan, who was checking something on his computer, glanced at the phone and saw an incoming text message from 'Annoyed caller'. He returned his focus to the computer without bothering to check it.
Buzz-Buzz…
The phone vibrated again. Declan didn't even glance at it this time.
Buzz-Buzz…
Buzz-Buzz…
"What does he want?" he groaned as he picked up the phone. He clicked on the first message.
His eyebrows arched when he read it. Then he checked the second message.
'But I am not generous enough to spend so much on your wife. I am sending the bills. Transfer the money to my account immediately.'
"Bastard," Declan snarled, his mouth twisting.
His eyes widened in surprise when he opened the third message. Spending a few thousand bucks was not a big deal for him. What surprised him was that Yasmin spent so much on apparel in just a day.
Declan had the impression that he had been robbed. "What the hell? Her father owes us millions. And now she is wasting my hard-earned money in this manner. Wait. I will teach her a lesson."
He clicked on the last message.
'Don't be mad at her. This is your punishment for not giving time to her. Transfer the money now.'
Derrek, on the other hand, smiled with delight after sending the last message. 'This is the punishment for making me your wife's driver,' he murmured in his mind.
"What makes you so happy?" Yasmin's voice made him pull his eyes off the phone and look up at her.
"Nothing. Are you done?" He got up from the sofa and slid his phone into his pocket.
"Yes." She showed him a slip. "The lenses will be ready by tomorrow."
"That's great. Let's give him a surprise." He smirked.
Tring-Tring…
His phone rang in his pocket. When he took out his phone, he saw a notification from his bank that his account had been credited.
Derrek was so delighted that he wanted to jump up and down. He couldn't believe that Declan had transferred the money so quickly. However, he suppressed the impulse and maintained his cool look.
They quickly left the clinic.
An hour later…
Yasmin entered the villa after saying her goodbyes to Derrek. She had a big grin on her face, showing her happiness. Her steps halted as she saw Declan seated in the hall doing something on his phone.
"You came back," she said, walking over to him. She was a bit surprised to see him home so early.
Declan gave her a sidelong glance. He grimaced when he saw the carrying bags in her hands.
"I went shopping with Derrek," she informed him excitedly. "I have got something for you." She sat down beside him, putting the carrying bags on the coffee table.
"Is that so?" He raised his eyebrows, wondering what she had bought for him.
She retrieved a maroon box and opened it. "Aren't they cute?" She showed him the half-heart pendants.
Declan glanced at the necklace set. He found it childish. He didn't believe in 'symbol of love' or 'make for each other' stuff.
What caught his attention was her beaming smile. It reminded him of her delightful smile in the morning. His lips also curled into a smile unwittingly.
"Let me help you put it on," she said as she took the pendant engraved with 'His.'
Declan wouldn't wear such things, but he remained seated motionless, staring at her in a trance.
Yasmin put the chain around his neck and secured the hook. She held the pendant and asked, "Isn't it beautiful?"
"Certainly," he murmured in a daze, his gaze never leaving her face.
She put on the chain carved with 'Hers'. She then held the two pendants together and connected the halves.
"Now they are complete. It will remind us that we are made for each other." She looked up at him, only to meet his blue eyes.
It wasn't until then that she realized how close their faces were. Her heartbeat spiked all of a sudden. The butterflies started flapping their wings in her tummy. There was something in his eyes that she hadn't noticed before.
His eyes were neither cold nor indifferent. There was no anger either. All she noticed was yearning as if he was asking for something.
Yasmin had no idea what he had on his mind. She couldn't think of anything straight while he was so close. Her entire focus was on his lips.
She couldn't wait to kiss him. But she wanted him to take the initiative. She waited for him to make a move. However, he kept staring at her without batting his eyes.
She moved away, breaking eye contact. Her heart was filled with disappointment. She was eager to know why he was not kissing her.
"You should talk to Derrek," she said as she took the carry bags and rose to her feet. "He paid the bills. I didn't want to buy so many things. I had no plans to go shopping either. He took me and made me buy all this. I got mad at him and purchased some more extra items. I am feeling terrible now. Will you pay him back?"
Declan's face turned solemn as he heard it. 'Scumbag,' he muttered in his mind. He wished he could thrash Derrek.
Yasmin grew anxious when she did not get his response. "I am asking you something."
"Don't worry. I will handle it."
"Thank you."
The guilt in her heart dissipated in an instant. There was a satisfying smile on her face as she headed to the room.
Declan's face turned gloomier as he picked up his phone and checked Derrek's messages once again. "You like to play with me," he murmured, gnashing his teeth. "Let's play."
