"What? Murder?" Yasmin exclaimed in disbelief. "Officer, you have made a mistake. Declan cannot kill anyone." She was so terrified and nervous that her entire body began to shake.
"We have proof against him," the officer asserted solemnly.
"Proof?" Yasmin grew terrified, her face ghastly pale. She turned to Declan, who seemed as shocked as she was. "Declan…" She clutched his hand firmly. "What proof is the officer referring to? You didn't do anything, did you?"
He silently stared at the inspector.
"Declan…" She tugged on his hand. "Say something. Tell him that you didn't kill anybody." She burst into tears.
It was not until this point that he came to his senses and looked at her.
"Do you trust me?" he asked.
"Of course, I trust you," she replied without hesitation.
He put his hands against her cheeks. "Keep your faith in me. I will be back soon."
He exited with the cops.
