Chapter 1 - Jack Of The Dragon Kick

This is an introduction Chapter, so it is only 590 words. The next chapters will be at least 1400 words.

"UGH!"

"AH!"

"OOF!"

Noises of pain could be heard from the Ruler's Kick, a small family owned dojo currently being managed by Jack Alpen. He was drilli- *cough* teaching the techniques to his students.

"No, no, no. Your angle is all wrong! How do you expect to defeat a simple pedestrian with that awful balance!" Jack knocked down one of the seven students that were practicing their kicking.

"Watch me carefully." Jack sighed. He got into position and kicked forwards in an elegant and terrifyingly fast speed. The student was left staring.

"See this? This is the most important part." Jack, still in a kicking motion, pointed to his leg on the ground.

"Mess your stance by even a centimeter, and you will lick the ground. Balance is the key to this martial arts." Jack started to repeatedly kick one of the close-by dummies, it looked like a machine gun, constantly piercing the dummy.

The other students were also starting to gather. Some were amazed, some were envious and some were intimidated.

...

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!

"Oh? Would you look at that." Jack kicked the dummy horizontally this time, knocking the head clean off. It was weakened because of the constant use.

He clapped his hands "Alright clean that up and we are done for today."

A couple students let out a sigh of relief. Jack may be arrogant and bossy, but he was one of the best teachers in the city.

Jack changed his clothes and started to walk home, bobbing his head to a music in his head.

He entered a close-by market and grabbed an ice-cream sandwich.

He paid for it and started to leave. He opened the door, a hooded figure, looking in his fifties entered the market while Jack was leaving. Jack found it quite suspicious, but who was he to judge others? He walked a couple meters away from the doors, sideways. And started nibbling on the ice-cream sandwich like a mouse.

CRACK!

A glass shattering was heard. Jack accidentally swallowed the remaining half of the icecream sandwich and even bit his finger.

He looked from the glass door. The hooded figure was holding a pistol. He needed no other evidence. Jack kicked the door open and dashed at the man, sliding from the ground midway through to not get shot. The hooded figure panicked and started to unload his magazine all over the glass doors, unfortunately Jack was sliding on the floor. When Jack came close enough, he kicked upwards to knock the gun off with his left leg, and sweeped the man's legs with his left.

The man was on the floor, trying to get up to run away.

"Oh? You're pretty cowardly for this line of work, no?" Jack kicked the man in the chest, this time with the tip of his feet, he was always wearing iron soles because regular shoes simply ripped apart from the impact. The man received a heavy blow to his chest, shattering a few ribs.

"Stay down if you know what's good for you. I don't have time for this." Jack took the gun away and started spinning it in his hands. "Man, how easy it is to get a hold of guns in this country."

He told the shop clerk, who was scared shitless to call the cops and that she saw absolutely nothing. Because it was obvious what Jack did went far beyond self defense.

He left quickly and disappeared into the streets.
