They were kids and may take things lightly which will affect the rest of their lives. She didn't want this to be the day they remember as the day they messed everything up.
The kids understood the teachings of the story so they agreed with Alayna seriously. Seeing that they understood, she gave them the pills and watched them as they took and swallow them.
She didn't want them to feel any pain but since they have already escaped death at some point, this was going to be nothing for them.
Alayna kept watching the kids as they absorbed the pills and let the pills do their magic. She felt very bad for them, watching as sweat trickled down their small bodies, fists clenched as they went through some antagonizing pain.
She still remembered how tough it was for her on that night but this has to be done otherwise they will be just wastes for the rest of their lives.
