They apparently neared a gas station, where a group of people took cover.
From what she was seeing, they probably heard the sound of gunshots and, after seeing the zombies being attracted away, they 'bravely' went over to get noticed.
Of course, this was just attracting zombies to them and making the soldier's jobs even more difficult.
"Please! Help us!!!" They cried and the soldiers had no choice but to rush the rescue a bit, lest they attract more aggro.
