THE SYVERIAN SOLDIERS CAMPING BY THE OUTSKIRTS of the quaint hamlet were unceremoniously jerked awake from their slumbering by the shrill whistle of a blowhorn. It cut clear across the spread of tents and officers everywhere murmured as they drowsied up. In moments, heavy iron pots set on large rocks began cooking hot water and the soldiers who fancied themselves as chefs distributed to all parts of the military camp to begin preparations for a mass breakfast. Meanwhile, the high captains among the soldiers were rousing awake for a different reason.
