BELTANE, THE ROYAL CARRIAGE CONSORT ARRIVED EARLY ON THE MORROW. It seemed that Marsil's sumptuous tip the previous Even had yielded great fortune for the fine coachman, for he arrived with the morn clouded in new robes. It was spun in the uniform code as befitted horse-masters: a whipping of tight leggings, tweed stockings, fine gentleman shoes, and taped over with a modest overcoat. In Beltane's case however, his overcoat was a doublet, red as the rising sun, and with enough pockets to rival a Navy Captain's jacket. The man had sewn his wear as close to the edge of elegant as it could be, that is without bordering on the outright regal.
He assumed that since he was doing the part, he might as well look the part. He had the kind Prince to thank for his new wardrobe though.
