Chapter 7 - Painful Reality

That day, on a day off, Satya had planned something beautiful to surprise Sonya.

So, in the afternoon, Satya took an online taxi to Sonya's house. He did not forget to buy a bunch of white roses which became Sonya Ardhamevia's favorite flower.

When he was about to reach Sonya's house, Satya saw a luxurious car that was quite familiar to his eyes coming out of the girl's yard. It must be Mr. Hengky, he thought.

Even though Satya knows, Sonya is Mr. Hengky's mistress, but still, makes him jealous.

The feeling that was so happy, blooming before, suddenly disappeared just like that.

"We have arrived, sir," said the taxi driver.

"Aah, yes," Satya got out of the taxi.

For a moment, he stood like a statue in front of the open gate of Sonya's house, while the taxi had drifted away.

Satya repeatedly took deep breaths to calm his heart which was burning with jealousy. Also, for the sake of bringing back the overjoyed feeling he previously felt.

This is the consequence, Satya!

The man could even hear his inner voice at this point.

You're playing crazy with a girl who is the mistress of the big boss of the company you work for. Then, you should be able to accept all of this!

After making up his mind, Satya finally stepped into the courtyard of Sonya's house.

Just a few steps, Satya could already hear the sound of crying from inside the house. There was nothing else Satya could think of at this point other than that it was the sound of Sonya's crying.

What else is there between the two of them? he thought. Why does Mr. Hengky's arrival always make Sonya cry? What really happened?

And a myriad of other questions popped up at that very moment in Satya's head.

Satya paused for a moment in front of the front door and took a deep breath before finally entering the house, which happened to be the front door open.

The gate is open, the front door is as well. There was nothing else that could have been predicted by Satya that Mr. Hengky left the house furious—whatever the reason. This also means it's not just a petty fight.

Considering this, and he was afraid that there had been violence against Sonya, Satya at a faster pace entered the house.

"Sonya?!" he shouted the girl's name. "Sonya! Where are you?"

Satya was silent, standing transfixed when he found Sonya kneeling on the living room floor, sobbing in only her kimono.

Seeing Satya's appearance, Sonya fell even more into tears.

Right, Satya thought. Sonya has just received harsh treatment from Mr. Hengky. It was evident from the corner of the girl's lips which were bruised and bleeding.

"Sonya?!"

The jealousy in Satya's chest turned instantly into one so great anger towards Mr. Hengky that he knew he must have slapped Sonya, and it must have been a very hard slap. Also, such great pity for Sonya herself.

Satya then approached Sonya, put the bunch of white roses on the table, then kneeled in front of the girl, and pulled her into his arms.

Sonya's cries grew louder in Satya's arms, as if, Sonya was in a bad situation that she probably couldn't bear alone.

And Satya, trying to calm the girl with the warmth of his embrace, gave a gentle caress on her head and back.

Satya noticed that there was another figure in the room, at the threshold of the living room with the dining room.

Well, that's the housekeeper in this house, a woman about 40 years old who can only stand there as silent as a statue. She had seen it all and didn't know what to do with it.

Satya had known the housekeeper before. So, he didn't hesitate anymore by hugging Sonya in front of the housekeeper's eyes.

"Hey," Satya cupped Sonya's cheek when the girl's crying had subsided a little, "tell me," he said as he wiped the blood on the corner of Sonya's lips, "what's really going on between you and Mr. Hengky?"

"Satya, I'm sorry," Sonya said in a nasal and trembling voice, "I…"

Sonya couldn't continue her words, she looked down and started crying again.

"Sonya, please…" Satya pulled the girl back into his arms. "Every time he comes, you always cry. And this time, you even got rough treatment. Don't say no because your lips are bleeding, Sonya…"

There was great fear in Sonya if she had to be honest with Satya, at the man who during this week had filled many voids in her heart, had given her the attention and warmth she needed from a man.

Sonya was afraid that Satya would stay away from her if she told him the real reason.

"Hey," again, Satya cupped Sonya's cheek with his palms, "tell me the truth, Sonya! I—I know, I have no right to ask about what happened between the two of you, but I also don't want to see you in this condition, abused."

"No, Sat, I—"

"Hey," Satya hugged Sonya again with all the warmth and tenderness he could. "I can't do anything if you keep crying, Sonya. Enough, no more crying, please. You'll only confuse me even more without knowing the problem, without knowing what to do with your condition."

"I don't want to expect much from you, Sat," Sonya said between sobs. "What's more, I realized, you won't stay by my side forever, with my condition of being a mistress of another man."

"Hey," Satya gently stroked the girl's cheek which was red and wet with tears. "Aren't I here now, in front of you?"

"You will only be disappointed in me, Sat, believe me…"

"Sonya?"

"You're a good man, you deserve a good girl."

"Sonya, please? I don't even know what you're talking about?"

Sonya was sobbing even more with her head down, her forehead pressed against Satya's.

"I'm," Sonya tried to muster all the strength she had just for the sake of saying one sentence, "I'm pregnant."

Satya's eyes widen. He didn't even know how to respond to what Sonya had just said. Nor was it just a word that came out of his half-open mouth.

"I'm two months pregnant, Sat," said Sonya who was drowning in her sobs, her tears dripping onto the floor. "Mr. Hengky asked me to abort my pregnancy. But…"

Sonya lifted her face and looked at Satya who was filled with confusion in his attitude with all that he had said.

"…But this baby is innocent, Sat," Sonya roared even more clutching her belly. "This baby is innocent. I—I don't want to add to my sin by aborting this baby. I can't…"

Satya was silent like a stone statue. He knew that his relationship with Sonya was only a week, even though by having frequent sexual intercourse, the fetus in Sonya's womb was not his blood, it was Mr. Hengky's blood.

Satya now knows that Mr. Hengky's fight with Sonya was caused by the fetus. He could imagine, that if Sonya continued to take care of the womb, give birth and raise the baby, surely this would gradually threaten Mr. Hengky's household with his legal wife.

And before the tempest happened, that's why Mr. Hengky always urged Sonya to abort her pregnancy. However, because Sonya was adamant about not wanting to do such a cursed act, Mr. Hengky ended up being rude to his mistress.

Satya sighed repeatedly. Did he really like Sonya? The question suddenly popped into his head. Just like her because she is beautiful and has very seductive curves?

Then, what about the fetus?

Do I still like her?

Satya was unable to answer the questions that popped into his head.

Satya suddenly felt a huge disappointment with all these facts towards Sonya. And it made his heart hurt, a big wound that didn't bleed but was very painful.

Doesn't she know that Mr. Hengky will always have sex with her? Then, why didn't she do something to prevent her from getting pregnant?

However, Satya was still reluctant to say it directly to Sonya for one reason or another that popped up in his head. After all, it's not my blood, why should I care about the fetus?

Caring for and raising the baby? Seriously!

Only Sonya's cries could be heard in the living room, while Satya could only be as silent as a statue.

"Y—You…" Satya said in a trembling voice, "you hurt me, Sonya… You're right, you disappointed me. You don't deserve me."

"Satya!"

"You should know, the chances of you getting pregnant are very high with your position as Mr. Hengky's mistress. But—argh…!"

Satya stood up and then walked out of the living room half running, out of Sonya's house while Sonya was screaming for him.

"Satya…! Forgive me! Satya… please…!"

The housekeeper could only stare at Sonya with a look of great sadness on her face. As a fellow woman, she understood very well how broken Sonya's feelings were at this moment.

Slowly, she finally approached Sonya who was crying hysterically on the floor.

"Miss Sonya," she said as she knelt before Sonya.

Sonya could only sink deeper into her tears, deeper and deeper into her sadness.

The housekeeper hugged Sonya, just to ease the girl's pain, she hope.
