" Dr Alex? Dr Alex? Are you listening? ", called out the doctor when he noticed Alex zoning out.
" Yes, I am listening. ", Alex replied but everyone knew that he wasn't.
" Is something wrong, Alex? ", Lilly asked worriedly. " Should I return back home? We don't have to go anywhere if you don't want to. "
" No, I am fine. We should meet Dr Clara if it is required. ", Alex said and then muttered something under his breath.
" Even if I don't want to. ", he said which went unheard by the other doctor but Lilly heard it clearly due to her heightened hearing.
" Alright, just let me ask her when can she give you an appointment and explain her the case. ", the doctor replied dialing a number.
He explained everything to her and when Lilly's eyes fell on Alex, she could see that he was very anxious.
" Alright, thank you Dr Clara. ", the doctor said, hanging up. He looked at Alex and said, " Dr Clara said that she does not have any appointment till noon so you guys can go right now. I will be mailing her the reports and will be sending the hard copy too. "
" Of course, as expected from her. ", Alex scoffed, surprising Lilly and the neurologist.
Both of them just stared at him in surprise until he defended himself.
" I don't mean in any wrong sense. I just meant that I expected her to be nice enough to give us her precious time immediately. ", he defended himself, making the situation more awkward.
" What are you even saying? "
" Anyways, thanks doctor. I will treat you later. ", he said as he got up to leave, followed by Lilly.
They shook hands and Lilly thanked him before leaving. After that they again got on elevator but Alex still didn't look as if he appreciated the idea.
" Do you have some problem with the psychologist or what? ", Lilly asked, when left alone in the elevator.
" Psychologist? Who? ", Alex asked and later realised what she meant. " Oh you mean with Clara? No way. "
" Then why are you hating the idea from the starting? "
" Because we have a history. Also, Clara is also not a human, so don't get surprised after meeting her. ", he replied as the elevator reached the floor.
" Then is she also a vampire? ", Lilly asked, as Alex started walking without answering her.
Getting annoyed by the way he kept on acting, Lilly stopped talking to him.
" Fine, don't tell me anything and keep on ignoring me. I don't even want to know anything. ", she said making Alex stop in his tracks.
" I am not ignoring you. It is just I have a lot on my mind at the moment. "
" About the doctor? "
" Clara is not a vampire. Not all non humans are vampires. You will see yourself what she is so can't we just hurry up. Explaining everything will take some time. "
Lilly nodded and started following him again. In no time they reached a door which appeared to be the psychologist's office. Alex knocked and we immediately heard a gentle sweet voice allowing us in.
A beautiful doctor was sitting on the chair, busy looking at her desktop. Her long black hair reached her back while her brown eyes remain fixed on what she was reading.
Without even looking up, she exclaimed, " Wow! Looks like we have a newly turned vampire here! "
The accuracy in her statement surprised Lilly while Alex remained unfazed.
Lilly had thought not to speak until she was able to read the room but she was not able to contain her.
" How did you know that? ", she asked.
Suddenly the doctor looked up and her eyes met Lilly's. She kept on staring at her for a while with an unreadable expression on her face and then suddenly broke into a smile.
" Newly turned vampires have a different scent which immediately gives away the fact that they have turned recently. ", she explained, getting up from her chair, putting out her hand for handshake.
" Oh sorry, I didn't know that. ", Lilly replied, shaking her hand as Alex took a seat, ignoring the doctor.
" It's fine. This is responsibility of the one who turned the person to explain the basics. It is unfortunate for you to be the responsibility of an irresponsible guy. Just blame it on your luck sweetheart. ", she said, directing her remarks on Alex who was busy fiddling with his phone.
He didn't even care and was just ignoring them.
" Take a seat. ", Dr Clara said to Lilly, pointing to the chair in front of her. " I am Clara, Dr Clara, a psychologist. "
" I know. ", Lilly replied.
" So how long has it been since you turned? ", she asked suddenly.
" Just some days. "
" Do you have a family? "
" Of course, I do. ", Lilly replied, getting defensive as the question somewhat felt weird to her.
The doctor chuckled and said, " Don't misunderstand. I was just asking. "
" Don't you think that was rude, considering this is our first meeting. "
" Bold, aren't you?, she replied, smiling. " Alright, I apologize. "
" So where are you staying? With your family? ", she continued.
Before Lilly could answer, Alex interrupted her.
" Dr Clara, don't you think you are asking too many personal question now. ", Alex said.
" Wow, you remember how to speak. I thought you forgot. ", she replied sarcastically.
" Aren't you the one who has most number of patients in the entire department? How did you even agree to give this appointment? ", Alex asked.
" Well, that's true too but when I heard that my fiance brought a girl, I became curious of who she was and what she was but, now that I have seen her, there is nothing to worry about. She is just a child. "
Lilly got so shocked on hearing the word fiance that her mind froze. Clara's words somewhat felt offending to her but she was not able to understand what.
Surprised, she just looked at Alex, not knowing what to say or think. She had expected some kind of feud between them but had never expected that Clara was or is Alex's fiance. Those words came like a bolt out of the blue to her.
