Arihan refused to use Alora's teleportation powers, and the portal was far away. Hence, the entourage decided to stay at an Inn in the forest when the sun hit the horizon.
Alora insisted everyone rest for the night since they rode the horse for half of the day. However, she couldn't get a wink when she could hear the noises of wild animals around the Inn, close to the river.
Alora teleported to the roof of the inn and her breath caught in her throat when she nearly collided with a shadowy figure in the darkness. Arihan was standing there, as though anticipating her arrival.
Before she could utter a word, his hand covered her mouth. He leans in, his voice a hushed murmur near her ear, "Shh… There is a beast."
The heat of his breath against her skin sent a shiver down her spine. Alora's wide eyes met his and she managed a small nod. They were so close that she could breathe his scent which could ease her heart beyond any words that could soothe her.
