"Here, you can have them all, as you wished for." He placed the tray of food on the table and turned to me with a smile, "eat before it gets cold."
"Thank you," I forced a smile at him before I turned to look at the food he made for me. "They look delicious."
Oddly, looking at the food on the table didn't move me at all. Which was unlike before, when I get ravenous seeing the food Fern made.
"I made them with care."
"Thank you very much." I smile at him, "you are a lifesaver."
"I'm glad I got to have someone eating what I made." He sat on the opposite chair, and placed both hands under his jaw, with his entire focus on me.
"What's wrong? Aren't you going to eat?"
"Not now, I prefer to watch you eat." He smiled, gazing at me like a fool.
"That's creepy. If you want to watch anything, you can switch on the television."
"But I don't want that. I prefer watching you eat."
"Thanks, but no, thanks."
