I stood, rooted to the floor, as I listened to their conversation. A tear slipped from my eyes when I realized that Fern might not like me as much as I like him. If not, he would have told me of the Mate stuff.
He knew I had a complication when I was little, and that made me unable to feel most of the things werewolves feel. But he still kept it from me.
Fern made me a fool!
I felt like storming down there to give him a piece of my mind, but I restrained myself from doing so.
"You need to act fast, Fern. What if he finds out you are hiding something like this from him? What do you think will happen? Do you think he will like it?"
"He won't find out, Jyn. Stop saying something like this. I know I'm his mate, and I'm supposed to tell him of the bond we share, but that's not possible at all. I don't think it's time yet. I will—"
