"Guys, I think this is going to go down the history of behind the scenes of The Fast and Furious. I hope Raelynn takes this!" Ian said while eyes turned towards him.
"What is it?" Raelynn asked in her hand, there was a camera focusing on everything that was happening in front of her.
The cast who were in their positions changed their postures to listen to what he had to say.
"Okay, so my third book… Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters is being released just a few minutes from now on, and I've got to say how excited I'm to share this with everyone,"
As soon as Ian announced it, everyone including the crew, team, and cast gathered around him. The entire little party was happening right after Ian had ordered them to wrap up the shooting.
The first scene where the tractor gets into an accident was shot clearly, and Ian was happy with the final cut.
"Ian! How do you manage your both lives?!" a person from the team asked while Ian's attention immediately drifted from his phone.
"Never knew there are reporters in my team, sir, why don't we take the interview to my office?" He asked sarcastically making everyone burst into a fit of laughter. "Well, to answer your question, I think I've provided enough proof of me flying away for vacations, taking breaks, or anything that sorts which helped me to complete books, plus the creative side… Who is to blame?"
Someone clapped loudly from behind and everyone followed.
"And, I've first edition copies with my sign in it for everyone who wants to read the second book of the Percy Jackson series. Considering my knowledge of everyone who says that not everyone is a fan of books, I think that maybe at least among y'all there'd be one or two people, am I right?"
"Yeah, Ian. Give me one!"
"Me too!"
"I'd love to read too!"
"I want a copy!"
"I loved the first one, so can I get it?"
People who were silent the whole time started to raise their voices in demand of the books. Ian looked left and right while he felt a hint of happiness erupting through his chest.
The attention that had drifted everywhere finally turned to the loud noise that erupted from the corner of the room. Some gasped and some laughed.
The books—copies of the newest release were scattered on the floor. The man who wore a cap shielded his face from everyone else, and Ian let out a low chuckle before walking down to help him.
The man was already collecting the books, and as soon as he looked up to check who was approaching him, the two foreheads collided against each other, and the man jumped back in surprise.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Renner—Oh shit!"
The pile of books fell again. Ian laughed as everyone else joined him and stood to look at the guy's face.
Ian's jaw dropped as soon as he saw the face of the person he was met with.
"What the fuck?" he whispered to himself but the guy heard the director clear.
"I- I- I'm so sorry sir, I joined t-the publishing house yesterday and the first task… Well, I officially ruined it, I don't think they'd want me anymore now… Oh shit! What have I done?!"
The guy mumbled the latter to himself as everyone in the background stood without saying anything. Mason who kept watching the entire scenario play in front of him, stepped and called helpers to help collect the books.
Ian was still looking at the guy, while Mason gave a weird eye.
"Ian, don't tell me you're having second thoughts about your sexuality, not that I mind," Niko walked behind Ian and whispered in his ear.
He suddenly was back on Earth and looked at the guy again.
"You work with Steven? In the Actus Books, right?" Ian asked again.
"Yes, sir… Please don't let them fire me, I mean, I get it. You indeed need to complain, about how I might even have ruined the books. But uh, I don't want to get fired just yet… I'm sorry!"
"No, no. I might have given you the wrong impression, you won't get fired," Ian said and Niko's eyebrows raised while he was still standing behind Ian.
"Oh, thank you, sir. I'll get going then," he said while the helpers had taken care of all the books he brought. "If you could just sign here," he extended a paper that Ian took as quickly as possible.
In the paper, there was his name. The person who delivered the books—was Richard Diesel. Diesel—Knew it, at least the name, Diesel was what Ian was familiar with. It was the same person who he had been searching for a week after week. Vin Diesel—or the best, Richard Diesel.
His hair was long, not bald, but the face and the built-up personality were similar Ian felt chills while the man was trying to get his job saved right in front of him.
"You're Richard Diesel, right? Can I know why they send newbies over to distribute books?" Ian asked a little harshly.
"Uh-"
"I'm joking. Do you have a minute, Richard?" Ian asked seeing the man's eyes which were filled with curiosity.
'Is this man this chill, or am I dreaming' was Richard's thoughts while Ian handed over the file.
"I've time, sir. Why?"
"Well, this is not going to take a lot of time," Ian said while both of them walked over to the corner.
"Yeah?"
"Have you ever considered acting? Like, ever had the thought crossed your mind? After all, your work is in LA, Hollywood where almost everyone is an actor or trying to become one?" The director asked jokingly as Richard smiled at him.
"Not really—No, sir. I never even had the chance or opportunity to even think about that. I came here just to find a job, and I finally was lucky to join the Actus Books," he said while avoiding eye contact with the director who had a smile covering his face.
"Do you want to try acting?"
"Huh?"
"I have the perfect part that'd suit your face if you're willing to put in extra effort, and time, and I think, this could be a golden opportunity for you. You're a man who seeks chances and leads to get ahead in your life. I'm not trying to force you, but I think you're well aware of different actors who made it big in their careers when the chance was given to them, am I right?"
Richard took a while to think about what Ian was saying. It was true when he heard about the author, and the entire publishing firm was talking about Ian and how far he'd come, he also got to know how people were being selected randomly, but their entire careers were changed after meeting Ian.
There were not just one, but many interviews based on the same topic, which people found interesting.
[Flashback to the Actus Books, office 23]
It was yet another normal day in the office. Normal, but new. It has been twenty days today ever since he got recruited in the delivery and management sector, where all they've got to do is deliver books, and be in charge of all the exchanges of the books that have been dispatched.
As he was walking down to his office, he overheard the conversation that garnered his interest. He stopped for a while and listened to what they were saying about the man who he was about to meet in a very few hours.
"... I wish I was the one who is delivering these books! I mean, I was listening to the radio interview yesterday, where Ian talked about the new book, and the new movie he is working on…"
"Yeah well, the author is a genius himself in so many ways. I mean, where to begin? Once I'm done with these books, I at least can say that I helped to put these books in a box. What about the others, who are being straightly delivered to the author? Are they ready to go?"
The conversation exchange between the two women, made the guy wonder what were they truly talking about. Ever since he got here, the main ongoing project was of Mr. Ian Renner—the infamous author, director, and person who is kind and open enough to give chances at the talents he sees.
"Yeah, they are. Can you ask… Uh- Richard Diesel to come to get these? This set specifically is for him to deliver, oh before that, takes these to Mr. Steven's office. Heard him want to check the books before delivering by himself!"
The other lady nodded and took the books without saying a single word.
'Interesting' Richard had thought to himself at the idea of the conversation. Maybe it's his luck?
