"Are you giving up on hunting then?" she asked with a raised brow when he nodded shamelessly.
He was holding her by her neck and his other hand was on his lips covering them.
She stared at the beast that was about the size of half of her body in length and had strong teeth.
They were in a group so she would not be able to attack them if Alex did not support her. So, she let it go and waited for them to leave.
The lake was an important source of water, so she was sure more of the beasts would come in.
"Why did you lie so much? Are you afraid that Ophelia would have enemies in the empire?" he asked after a pause, and without even looking at him, she knew that his face was grim. "Is it because of your survival?"
"What if I had told you more lies than that for my survival?" she did not look back at him but he could feel her body tensed in his arms.
