Tan Rou noticed the little boy's eyes were very much like Laka's, gray within the brown, like two beautiful gems.
On closer inspection, Tan Rou found the little boy didn't seem like the typical thief; his clothes, though old, were clean, and his face was very clean, showing he cared about his appearance.
"Mmm," Tan Rou nodded and continued to ask him, "What did you steal? Why did you steal?"
The little boy took out a loaf of bread he had been hiding in his arms. Because it had been squished, the once fluffy bread had almost become flatbread.
"I didn't mean to steal, I was just so hungry, so I wanted to 'borrow' something to eat," the little boy said, rubbing his stomach, "But hardly anyone can understand what I say, so I usually can't 'borrow' food. I haven't eaten for a day, and today I just couldn't help it, so I took that lady's red bread."
