Downstairs, Tan Rou had already started her meal.
Tan Rou had just come down by herself, and the other three had thought she had failed. Mother Tao comforted her repeatedly, "Did he throw a tantrum? Don't mind him, eat your meal. I'll go take care of him."
Tan Rou shook her head obediently, sat down on her own, and took a calm sip of porridge before saying, "It's okay, he will be down soon."
Mother Tao and Tao Zheng exchanged a surprised look, hardly believing that Tao Qi would actually be so compliant. Usually, when they went to call him, it involved cajoling and even threatening a few times before they could coax the lazybones, who hated getting out of bed, to get moving.
But it wasn't long before they heard the "thud thud" of footsteps in the stairway. Tao Qi, with a reluctant face, glanced coldly at Tan Rou but still obediently took his seat at the table.
