The physics competition's problems were distributed by the city, and the papers were graded centrally there, so the results didn't come out quickly, but monthly exams were different. Some of the more impatient students in class wouldn't even eat after finishing an exam and would run straight to the office to check their scores. Although Chinese was the first subject tested, because of the essay portion, the results came out slower. Physics and math were different: tested early, graded quickly, and results came out fast.
