Wayne a rose from his seat the moment he saw shania's wolf collapse to the ground. he knew this was a testing moment and she was in great pain however, as her mate, there was only one thing he could do to help her and that was holding her in his arms and maybe the bond they shared would be of help.
Holding her wolf in his arms, he gently rubbed her fur in comfort and after a few seconds, the wolf stirred in his hold and looked at him. Just from the look he got, he knew Shania was buried deep down there somewhere and for her wolf to recognise him better, he'd have to shift. "It's okay!" he said to her as her predatory gaze watched his every move. He ensured constant contact with her to help her know who he was to her. He was her mate! "Shania....I know you are scared but it's okay...I'm here and nothing is going to happen to you in my presence alright?!" he spoke again and slowly, he could see that the hostility in her eyes begun to dwindle away. He didn't want to use his Alpha tone on her since she was made to be his other half, he was going to treat her accordingly.
Giving control to his wolf too, he let him communicate with the she wolf as apparently, since they weren't fully mated, he couldn't access her human side. Soft whimpers were heard and gradually, Shania relaxed and cradled herself into the masculine wolf's arms.
She felt safe and protected and this assured her that nothing could possibly go wrong. Traces of Shania returned into the wolf's eyes and this made Wayne sigh in relief, it meant that Shania had managed to gain control back and at this moment, they were familiarising with eachother, the human side and her wolf side.
Alpha!!!!" Wayne heard his Beta's panicked voice from inside his head. "We have been infiltrated!" He added
Wayne was unable to hold back his growls the whole of his demeanor changed into a murderous one.
"I apologize Alpha but we've only gotten news that one of the prisoners has escaped which is impossible unless someone set them free. Also, five patrol warriors have been found dead on the west side of the pack lands." The Beta continued to report.
No matter how much he loved spending some more time with his mate, this had to wait as the Terror pack had now crossed the lines! He turned to his mate who had again got into her human form and she was looking at him with worry. This isn't the look he needed from her. "My Luna...I'll be back as soon as I can. Let me first eradicate this threat, okay?!" Wayne cupped her small face in his large palms so he could look her in the eyes.
"Will everything be alright?!" Shania asked, her voice feeble and weak from the transformation.
"I promise to come back for you...and yes, I'm going to make sure everything is alright!" He assured. One thing that was running on both him and his wolf's mind was the end of the Terror pack this night! They were going to have to note this day in history. With a longing peck onto her forehead, he looked at one of the female pack elder. Take care of her!" he said through mindlink.
But Alpha... shouldn't you first make sure to mark her before you go?!" the elder asked.
"I can't do that to her. Look at her! She's so small and already very exhausted. And besides, I'm going into battle, if I mark her then every injury inflicted on me will be felt by her. I don't want her to feel that!" he replied.
"I understand Alpha!" the lady replied and looked at her Luna. Indeed the little one was very exhausted and marking her now would become dangerous for her mental state. "Luna!" she called on to Shania who looked at the older woman. "I'll escort you back to your chambers to rest. I'll be looking after Luna till the Alpha is back!" she said to which Shania nodded her head.
Looking back at where she had last seen Wayne, all that was left for her to look at was his broad back in a crowd of other elders as they discussed strategies on how to combat the intruders. He was sharing with them the information he had just got from his Beta and this news was really unsettling and all those that had come of age and made it were taken away from the grounds to safety immediately.
In a nick of time, it was like there had been no sort of ceremony or the likes.
.....
"Huh?!" Conner looked at Alpha Terror in terror. What sort of madness was this?! he though to himself.
"Is everything in place?!" Terror asked his warrior pack commander.
"Yes Alpha! The whole pack has been besieged. The ceremony has also come to an end and all the wolves that have just come of age have been moved to safety. We are waiting for your command ." The warrior pack commander said.
Terror looked back at Conner. "Have you made up your mind?!" he asked.
"I can agree to help on one condition." Conner begun to set his gains from this whole collaboration.
"And what makes you think we need your help?!" Terror asked which sealed Conner's lips.
The other warriors present could only hold themselves back from laughing at the young man as his face turned red from anger and embarrassment. Terror arose from his seat and walked past Conner not bothering to say a word.
"Why did you have your men drag me here then?!" Conner burst out in rage.
"Did you have a choice?!" Terror asked as his eye turned blood red. "Don't push my buttons Conner. Just choose which side you are on then we might be able to find use for you then!" Terror added and exited the room.
Only Conner got to see his eyes turn to that shade and even if it was for a mere fraction of time, he knew what he had seen. The rest of the men who had been filled with amusement also lost it at the change in the aura surrounding the room. It was business time!
"We don't question our Alpha...Refrain from doing so if you want to stay alive!" A warrior came and warned Conner, patting his shoulder in a friendly manner then exited the tent.
As soon as Terror stepped out of the tent, he was hit by an invisible energy that was floating through the fleeting air. It was faint but it was there. How was that possible?!
Alpha! Wayne and a group of wolves are fast approaching this side!" A scout warrior came and reported.
"Let's get moving." Alpha Terror said and all the wolves present shifted into their beast forms and sprinted off with Terror leading them.
......
"They were here not long ago!" Wayne communicated through the mindlink to the other elders.
"That pack was really daring! They had actually camped in their own land and were moving about freely?! How come?!"
"Alpha....we have endured enough insult from them. Alpha we can't take such disrespect, not only did they trespass but are also roaming our Packlands freely?!"
This was a challenge to Wayne... suprised at how Terror and his pack members were in his lands without them knowing it. Was there a traitor amongest them?! If that was the case, then this had gotten far worse than what he was expecting.
Unknown to Wayne and the others, since the Terror packs scent was still strong in the vicinity, they were unable to know that they had actually not left and they were surrounded.
Wayne looked at the elders who were just as confused as him.
Terror on the other hand was frozen where he stood in his wolf form. When they had been running off to carry out the plan as discussed, he realised that the scent he had smelled grew more prominent and was also getting closer. He gave a command for them to stay back and first observe something. The closer Wayne and the others got closer the stronger the scent became and he couldn't help himself from taking in greedy breathes of it...just to fill his lungs with this delicious aromatic scent.
"Is something wrong with the Alpha?!" One of the warriors asked his friend.
"You'd better not let the Alpha know that you asked such a silly question or you'd be sent off to the dark hole!" the other hissed back.
"I'm just curious!" he spat back.
"Well curiousity killed the wolf!" the other retorted.
"I'm no wolf....oh,I am one!!!"
"Well, your behaving like one! Now shut up!!"
