After that encounter with my mate at midday, I let her go back after ensuring she was okay, I found myself justifying my actions by blaming the warriors for not looking out for the pups in the pack,.....silly, yes I know but I just couldn't help it. I was all everything good and bad mixed up all together, her bewitching blue eyes hadn't for the slightest second left my mind. My plans to go out for a run were cancelled and I locked myself in my room with my Beta Lorcan. His eyes had not left me for all the time that we came into the room.
"She's small." his voice reached me and I agreed with him, short, and small. Not that I was disappointed, no, she was actually cute, and I'd do everything to keep it that way.
"You are going to have two of my best warriors keep a look out on her and report back to me about it." I said standig up to pour myself a drink.
"Mm." he replied. "Aren't you goin to have a word with her father?" Lorcan asked.
There's no need for that. I'll resign for the day" I needed time alone hence I dismissed my beta and he left soon. I showered and got into comfy pants then went to sleep immediately, any longer that I stayed awake in this room alone, I'd loose my mind.
Blood...,it was everywhere and it's stench filled the air making my nose cringe. It was a blood moon and the place was abandoned with only corpses carpeting the earth's floor. No one dared to cross the Wayne pack lands again, I had slain all enemies and I was sure no one would ever dare...or...
......
You are soooo lucky!!!!" Conner kept cryig as he sniffed me all-over making me feel funny. I wasn't going to deny that fact. The Alpha had held me, supported me to my feet...he had smiled at me so fondly that I almost went crashig into him. He was so gentle when he held me!
How did I get home? I don't know.
But Conner and Leila had decided to sleep over at my place since I hadn't went to our appointment and here we were, me tellig them more about the Alpha while they continued to sniff me to get his scent though their attempts were futile since their wolves hadn't come out yet.
"Just imagine how great it'd be when he is your mate!" Leila swooned dreamily and that brought back the strange feeling I got from the Alpha....there was a spark, I'm sure! Maybe, my mind was overwhelmed with his beauty and I thought so! Mm, probably.
Shaking me from my thoughts, I looked up and saw Leila was so close to my face that she could kiss me. You were saying? His eyes.....?" she pried for the nineth time today for me to redescribe the Alpha....and although my mouth hurt from talking, I didn't mind doing it again to make her smile.
His eyes, so green like the dense Alban woods, so deep like a magical vortex, you ae sucked in....."
The night dwindled away as the wolves howled to the moon.
...................
"Four more pack lands to go." A gruff voice sounded in the dark night and before the person, stood blood red eyes. "All are going to be celebrating the coming of age of pups in their packs, it'd be a good time to attack." The voice continued to report.
The voice was answered by a frustrated growl. "Blood, more blood!"
"It's expected of them to put up resistance and so yes, more blood." The voice replied understanding the red eyes creature's frustration. "I'll get the warriors moving soon."
...........
Another beautiful day rose to the Wayne pack, under the rule of Alpha Wayne. Shania yawned as she woke up to a new day.....or to be more precise, the aroma that wafted throught the whole house. Her mother surely knew well how to get their lazy asses out of bed. Left with no other, choice, I had no reason to stay in bed and sauntered all the way in my pajamas to the dinning room where mother father, Conner, Leila and Sydney awaited me.
Lazy bones!" I heard Sydney's harsh whipser which had Conner laugh. I sometimes thought Conner and my sister were working aganist me everytime they met.
Good morning mom, dad!" I smiled settling myself. Breakfast....my mind sang but before I could sinky claws into the chunk of meat I. my plate, the mixing stick hit my hands real hard.
Go wash!" came my mother's cold command. Why did she always have to let me first seat! She'd have told me before.....! I grumpily went and washed my hands clean them came back to the table, showed them to ma, then grabbed my meat. Yeah, we always had meat, all those that wee soon coming of age had to feed on lots of meat for the all the days before the coming of age moon. My mother however made it the tastiest meat one could dram of having and now I understood why she was called the miracle worker in the pack.
Yes, instead of staying home and doing nothing in particular, my mother was in charge of ensurig that all the pups coming of age would feed on well nourished meats prepared by her and other females in the pack but hunted by the warriors in the Alban woods.
Soft, chewy, juciy, meaty, swalloweee meat.... I'd never have enough of its magic.
So what do you plan on doing today?" Leila asked as we exited the house to roam about like measles yet another day.
"I'm going to spend the day with the boys." Conner said as he adjusted his shirt. He was also one of the really handsome boys in the pack but unfortunately, he just a friend. He'd also be a very good and understanding mate.
Go,go go...we also want to spend some girly time alone!" I dismissed him tiredly to which he laughed. See you around then!" he smiled and ran to meet up with the other boys who were soon coming of age. I watched as Leila watched him with longing eyes as he disappeared into the group.
"You should tell him." I said bringing her back to the present. Sighing heavily, she turned back to me and smiled sadly, "he is coming of age and he'll be meeting his mate soon. My feelings for him mean nothing now, if so, I'd only loose him by pushing him further away. I can't loose the friend I have in him, I shouldn't be too greedy" she said taking a seat under an oak tree next to my home.
I followed and sat besides her not knowing how to settle this matter between us three best friends. She had had feeling for him since the first time he stood up for is when we were ten and were being bullied by the other kids and for eight years now, we have been friends. "Don't worry!" I cheered her, as I always did. "Your mate is out there somewhere and I believe he is waiting for you and you'd he happy with him." I smiled at her to which she smiled back.
"You can never be too sure!" she told me and looked into the far distance. I was sure....just not entirely.
How do you think our mates look like?" I asked wondering.
If they are warriors, then our fathers fit the physical description of their frames, I'm sure." Leila smiled looking at me enthusiastically. Well, we couldn't have what we wanted but that didn't mean we couldn't dream or fantasize about it!
I want my mate to have the same bewitching green eyes, just like those of our Alpha!" Leila squeaked and I couldn't help laughing out loud, Alpha Wayne was going to stay on her top fantasy till someone else stole that spot light.
I want mine to have.....dark black bewitching eyes, those that can suck you in, make you shiver in fear yet at the same time be the place you feel the safest in." I fantasized but not feeling the excitement of Leila, I turned to look at her and she was looking at me in horror. What?" I wondered where I had gone wrong.
Did you hear yourself?" she asked.
I frowned and rethought back on what I said which had me pale. No, no...that's not what I want! I hate black eyes! Those...black eyes....they've been part of my nightmares for as long as I can remember! Just the thought of them made me shudder
hey, are you alright?" I felt Leila's grip on my shoulder and turned to look at her with worry. It's ok, nothing is going to go wrong." she assured me and held me in a hug to which I held her back trembling. It had been ages...ages since those eyes peeked into my conscious mind.
Are you girls alright?!" I heard a voice, familiar to the ears and comforting to the soul. Leila drew from my hold stiff and I turned to look at our Alpha who was standing there in just pants. He must have returned from inspecting the boarders.
The fear in me still had me shuddering and I couldn't focus on the Alpha completely.
.....................
I had to wake up earlier than usual after getting a message from my Gamma about some intel. I had left the pack in the hands of Lorcan and ran off to the boarder at 3am in the morning....there was no moon and hence the forests had been dark and looked haunted but that didn't scare me one bit. Two hours running at full speed, I made my way to the boarder.
Alpha, our scouts informed us that the blood moon pack was attacked!" My Gamma Roger reported as soon as I was close enough. The news had me frowning and I couldn't help the restlessness that I had burried deep within me take over ten folds.
Which pack?" I asked despite having a clue on which pack could be parading attacks on the others. That blood lust beast!
It's the wolves from Lunar pack!" Roger siad and I frowned. Not what I expected! Wasn't their Alpha murdered?" I wondered as I stalked over to the scout.
Alpha, I'm sure. He reported and I nodded vehemently. His mate was from the same pack and she had smelt like those wolves when she had come over seeking help.
I want you and your team to go and scout Futher, I don't think it's them as they can't go without a leader, find who is behind this force and report back to me immediately." I commanded and watched the scouts go to carry out their task. I turned to Roger. How bad was the damage to Lunar pack?" Their Alpha was a good and honourable friend of mine.
The pack disintegrated already. I could see the pain on Roger's face. We are expecting to have some coming over seeking refugee in a few days." he explained and I nodded understanding.
But....it..." he stammered and I couldn't help raising a brow at him to explain what he was holding back. It was a single attack, I can't believe that Alpha Cain couldn't hold back a mere group of wolves, moreso those without an Alpha!" He uttered my concerns. It was true there is no way a mere group of wolves without a leader could bring down a whole pack in just a single night. There was much more than what meets the eye.
The person I'm suspecting hasn't had any movements for years now...or has he? I doubt! I doubt he managed to get up and dare me from our last battle.
Join me, well visit the other posts around the borders and return to the pack to re-plan the security of the coming event." I said to Roger and hit to my destination. After ensuring that everything was in place, I headed back to the pack and couldn't help running by my mate's home. Seeing her would help me calm my mind to rethink my packs safety out.
As I neared however, I sensed her distress, though faint since I hadn't yet permanently marked her, my wolf zoomed to where she was and I saw her falling into the arms of another young wolf pale and shaking.
Lots of love from litto-ways ❤️
