Chereads / The Supernatural Hunter System / Chapter 5 - Secret Room's Tragedy

Chapter 5 - Secret Room's Tragedy

The room was very dark and large. Made from the same obsidian-like stone as the tunnel they pass before. Rainn finds it very difficult to determine how big the actual room is because the black stone of this chamber is not different from the shadow.

"This room is very large," said Bryna. His voice created a little echo in this chamber.

"Quickly look for torch or lights, or whatever it is that can make a light," Artren commanded.

All hunters started to spread throughout the room.

The light of the lamp is moving simultaneously. Like a pack of fireflies in the middle of the darkness of the night.

Rainn touched the wall of this obsidian-like stone with his bare hand. The surface is very smooth. Rainn feels like he is touching a glass wall.

He was worried because his finger could've been cut. Obsidian can be something very sharp when it's broken.

Not long after, Rainn's hand found something different from the smooth surface that he was touching before.

He knows that the objects are attached to the wall in a circle shape and have something in the middle. of it. But without light that he can shine directly, Rainn can not guess what form in the middle of the circle exactly is.

There are strange feelings that screamed inside Rainn. The feeling is a mixture of fear that commands him to run, and curiosity that forces him to suppress it.

Finally, Rainn decided to obey the impulse of his curiosity. Because he is never wanted to be suppressed by fear.

There was a voice 'klak' like a light switch when Rainn pressed the thing in the middle Of the circle.

After that, a bright light suddenly came out and illuminated all of this place.

The previously pitch-black chamber was full of light in an instant. Make some hunter moan because the bright light pierces their eyes. Including Rainn.

Rainn forced his eyes to adjust to the light. Until finally he could see everything normally.

The previously black wall is now turned white. He spread his view around, but couldn't find where is the real source of this light.

Is it from the wall that turns into white? Or there is a lamp above the room that is not visible because it is too bright? Rainn asked this question in his mind.

Upfront there Artren and Bryna walked together toward a sword statue that stuck on the ground. Once they are near, they can finally see how the actual form of the stone sword is.

It is a double-edged sword statue about one meter in length. Made of white smooth stone-like everything else in this place.

"What is this place?" Asked Bryna. There was an anxious feeling that loomed her since the chamber suddenly changed from pitch black to become so bright.

Bryna looked around while licking her lip. As if there could be something that jumped on her.

"Who turned the light on this room?" Asked Artren, looking at all the hunters behind him.

They all also look curious. Then they turned when he heard someone talking from behind.

"It was me!" Answered Rainn. His gaze is straight toward Artren. And he did not care about the looks the other hunter gives him.

"Huh," Artren snorted. "You can be useful too, come here."

Although wondering why he was called, Rainn stepped forward without saying anything. Because this could be the chance to get respect from Artren and Bryna. Even when this is not a big thing.

That's how Rainn thought.

"What's up?" Rainn asked when he arrived near Artren and Bryna. He also saw there's a sword statue standing in front of them. Rainn could see the purpose why he'd been called here.

"Did you see this?" Artren points to the stone Sword. "Take it."

Again, the feelings came to him. This time the feeling of fear seems to dominate. But again, Rainn throws that fear far away.

After all, what's the worse thing that can happen just because he takes a statue from its place?

Rainn didn't think too long until he stepped forward and grab the handle of the sword.

Artren grinned. Then he gave cues to Bryna to retreat. They both move backward slowly for a few meters. Leaving Rainn there alone.

It turns out the stone sword stick stronger than he thought. Rainn struggled to pull it until he bared his teeth. But the stone sword still won't budge.

"What's the matter?" Asked Bryna.

Rainn licked his lips. He did not want to show his weakness to them at times like this.

"I'll try it again," Rainn replied. Didn't answer Bryna's question.

Bryna turned when she heard Artren say something in a soft voice. She then found Artren grinning.

"He is a stubborn person," said Artren. "Hey, prepare your weapon."

Bryna feels a bit uncomfortable. He knows that Artren ordered the hunter because he wanted to avoid any risks he might get.

Rainn felt that the statue had been starting to get off its place. Rainn gives a little stronger pull.

A few moments later, finally, the stone sword had been successfully unplugged.

"I'm doing it!" Rainn exclaimed while lifting the stone sword.

Artren and Bryna did not welcome his call with the reaction he hoped. They even rose the gaze around as if to prepare for something to come out.

Suddenly the cave is vibrating. Bryna finally lifts her gun.

Rainn doesn't know what happened. But shortly after tens of other stone swords popped around him.

After the stone statue, then the statues of others are popping up.

The statues are shaped like humans. However, some of them have a size twice as big as the usual human form. The other is almost as same as a tall human size.

The humanoid statues held the stone sword di their hand.

"W-what happened?"

"What ... are they?"

There was a commotion among the hunters. Artren and Bryna immediately take the standby position.

"Be prepared!" Artren called for orders to them all. With trembling hands, the hunters hold their weapons.

Rainn is still stuck among the statues. Then behind him, another statue appeared.

Then that happened after made their eyes widen.

The statues move. And as they are moved, the white stone layer that covered them started crumbling and fell. Just like animals that shed their skin.

Once all the stone layers are gone, then their original form is seen.

The statues were turned out to be something that hid the creatures in them. They look like the soldiers in the past with the armor of black. The bright room makes their black armor looks more glist.

Rainn was shocked so he stare at the soldier that appear behind him without blinking.

The eyes seen from behind the black helmet are flaming red. With the horizontal black pupil of a wild animal.

Suddenly the hand of the creature holds his hand that holds the stone sword. Then squeeze it until the whole finger in Rainn's hand is broken.

"Arghh!"
