Silan walked out of the hospital room. His white cloak was dirty with stains from the blood of the young man he had brought with him.
The doctor had already said that he would do his best to treat the young boy. But what makes Silan can't stop thinking is how the young boy could be in a deserted alley in such a terrible condition.
The wounds he suffered seemed to come from the shreds of a supernatural creature. Not from ordinary people. But Silan looked around the scene and found nothing there. What was even stranger was, that there wasn't much trace of blood for such a large wound. There should be some kind of pool of blood when one suffers such a severe wound.
"Haahhh..." Silan let out a long breath. Lately, a lot of strange things have happened. A few days ago a member of a noble family was killed with a strange condition too. Now suddenly there was a young boy who was injured and dying in a deserted alley with a strange wound. Luckily Silan had arrived just in time while on patrol. Otherwise, the young man would have died.
Her cell phone rings. Silan take it from his coat's pocket and looked at the name of the person who contacted him.
"Hello," Silan picked up the phone.
'Where are you now?' someone asked on the other end of the phone.
"I'm in the hospital," Silan replied.
'Hospital?' There was a tone of worry coming from there. 'What happened to you?'
"I'm fine. But I just brought a young boy who was dying."
'What?!'
"Yeah, that's how it is. I'll tell you about it when we meet."
'Okay. The most important thing is that you're all right.'
"Yeah. Anything else you need to say?"
'I was wondering if you've got any new clues about the noble's murder?'
"Nothing. I didn't get anything."
'Hmm, fine. I already guessed. This is a difficult case indeed.' Silan heard a tired sigh from the person who called.
'Okay, I'll call you later.'
After that, the phone was closed. Silan put his cellphone back into his coat pocket.
The task of being an Investigator is never easy. But for Silan the events of the past few days were the most difficult to deal with. Unlike ordinary officers who wear black uniforms and black coats, they are only tasked with catching lawbreakers.
The duties of the Investigators were demanded to satisfy the nobles and high-ranking officials of the Bureau. Their rank was also clearly higher than theirs because the task was also heavier.
This time one of the nobles was killed for no apparent reason. And within a few days still, not a single additional clue had appeared. Silan and his partner, who had just called earlier, had almost run out of patience to hear the complaints and demands of the nobles.
With a long sigh, Silan stood up and brushed his straight dark hair back with his hands. Then he walked to the vending machine to get a cup of coffee. Hoping the effects of caffeine can ease his headache.

The first thing he see was a white ceiling. Then the soft buzzing neon light and the sound of the instrument next to him. Rainn knew what this place was. This is a hospital room. He remembers everything and realizes that it was someone in a white coat who might have brought him to this hospital.
Is he dead? It was the first thing that popped into his head as soon as he realized it. Tut said that if he dies, then he will lose half of the progress he had so far.
So Rainn opened his stats window.
[ Name: Rainn Haryl ]
[ Level: 6 ]
[ Race: Human ]
[ Exp: 65/200 ]
[ HP: 3/10 ]
[ MP: 0 (+20) ]
[ Strength: 13 ]
[ Agility: 10 ]
[ Stamina: 11 ]
[ Skills: Ultimate Instinct (lv.3), Pyrokinesis (lv.3), Thunder step (Lv.4), Shield (Lv.4) ]
[ 12 unused skill points ]
Rainn immediately breathed a sigh of relief as soon as he saw his stats window. Turns out he didn't lose his progress. That means he didn't die.
How long has it been? He looked out the window and see it was already dark outside.
Rainn recalled his battle with the giant scorpion monster and felt that it was a very bad experience. But he didn't feel disappointed because he remembered that he had gone up two levels and got some rewards.
Then Rainn opened the blanket and looked at his left leg. The legs that were originally almost severed are now starting to heal. Rainn himself was surprised at his healing speed. His whole body still hurts but he is feeling better than before.
'Tut,' called Rainn.
'Yes?' Tut answered shortly after.
'Is there a skill that can speed up healing?' asked Rain.
'Yes. But that skill consumes quite a lot of MP.' replied Tut. 'But it can heal you, or anyone you want quickly. Almost instantly. With your current level, you can have that skill.'
Because now Rainn thought that he would not need MP, so he took the skill.
''Show me the skill.'
-The Hope Beacon.
Rainn immediately used 3 skill points for that skill.
[ New skills: The Hope Beacon (Lv.3) ]
[ Skill activated: The Hope Beacon (Lv.3) ]
White light instantly enveloped Rainn's body. He felt the warmth along with the white light.
[ HP: 4/10 ]
[ HP: 5/10 ]
[ HP: 6/10 ]
[ HP: 7/10 ]
Rainn sees his HP regaining, with such an incredible speed. Rainn also feels like every wound and ache in his body disappeared. He looked at his left foot. His tissue is created and forms a new healthy foot.
"Wow, this is amazing, Tut." Rainn unconsciously let out his voice because he was too excited.
'Look at your MP.'
Rainn immediately looks into his MP.
[ MP: 5 ]
He was surprised to see his MP. The MP that just had 20 points left was now changed to only 5 points. Even though it was a level 3 skill.
But no problem. Now he doesn't need MP. Hopefully, no supernatural creature suddenly attacks him.
Rainn has to get out of here fast before anyone visits him. He knows he won't be able to pay the hospital fees now.
His body felt weak due to the loss of MP. But he can still manage to walk out of his hospital. Well, at least he thought he could.
Rainn slid open the room door. He looked around to see if anyone was around. When he sensed that no one was there, Rainn came out of the room. His feet still hurt a little but he was able to walk well.
His body that feels weak due to low MP is not a problem. Rainn felt it was okay to live in this condition rather than having to pay for the convent hospital which was definitely more expensive than his one-month living expenses.
Rainn limps out of the hospital. But no one suspected him because it was getting late at night. He sits down on a chair on the side of the road accompanied by a long breath.
He looked at the night sky. Black clouds can be seen covering the stars. It looks like it will rain soon.
Rainn learned a few things from today's events. He had to think about something more before making a decision, and his physical condition had to improve again to survive. Because the skill points he gets can only be used to get skills, not to strengthen physical stats.
"After all, I still need the old fashion way. Training and practice." Rainn muttered to himself.
