Yingxue did not like this situation at all. He had always wanted to leave the Palace. Prior to this instance it had been nigh impossible. He was scarcely allowed outside the palace walls, and even walking freely along the palace interior was not something he was given. He knew that it was not going to be easy, but...he had always daydreamed about being free, about being able to walk freely and not have to try and sneak around. He knew that this was not exactly the most free walked ideal, but at least he had the fresh air beating against his face, the scent of trees in his nose, and he was grateful, truly. Not only had Minhyun protected him and saved him from some assassin that his own father-or whatever he was-had sent after him to kill him, but he had also freed him.
Not entirely, of course, he was still sneaking about. He had to hide from his father or his...something he supposed, he had no idea what MinHyun was planning, or where they were supposed to be going. He had no idea where they were going to go when it came down it. Minhyun was the one who was supposed to know that, he supposed, considering he was the one who had dragged him out of the Palace. Not that he was sad about it, he was happy, he was glad. He was no longer stuck in the palace, and he had never really even been in a forest before, so he was happy he could even do this.
It was better than nothing, YingXue knew, which made him glad, considering things were hard enough to reconcile with the fact that he had almost been killed. It jarred him, really, that realization. He did not know why it was that he felt as though it was a relief, over something he should be feeling betrayed about. Perhaps his subconsious had seen this coming from the long run, and had forced him to prepare without realizing it.
"Your Highness, are you alright?" Minhyun whispered, fingers trailing hesitantly down his arm to jerk his attention towards him. YingXue gave a small smile, though it was somewhat strained, and gripped Minhyun's hand in his own. He knew that his servant cared for him, probably the only person who would, who ever really had. He did not know why it was painful for him to think that way. He was so...so lonely when he thought about it. He did not have anyone that cared should he disappear, and clearly his father thing had decided he needed to be done away with.
"Yes, Minhyun, I am alright, do not fret." YingXue said softly. The servant narrowed his eyes slightly, but refused to say more on the topic, sensing that the Prince was done with it. He did not even comment on the fact that Minhyun had once more used titles despite the Prince's insistence that he not do such things. He shook his head. That was definitely something that struck Minhyun had though.
The Prince had been adamant on such things from the time that Minhyun had begun to spend more time with him. They had become quite fast friends, and Minhyun had been constantly fighting with the Prince over neglecting titles. The Prince did not like it when such things were used by his only friend that he had ever had. Yet, Minhyun had not wanted to argue, but he refused to just neglect the titles. The King would have his head.
The fact that he had not said anything regarding Minhyun using once more the title of Highness made Minhyun realize that something was wrong. He supposed that was all that he could really expect. The King had just attempted to kill him, he had almost died, the servants were basically secondary to the fact that he had almost been killed with no witnesses, and now he was tramping around the forest in the middle of the night. He had definitely wanted to escape the palace for a long while, but Minhyun had to also remember that he was not able to force the joy regarding escaping the palace when the reason why they were leaving definitely loomed over the joy of managing to escape in the first place.
Minhyun really should have just escaped with the Prince in the first place. He had suspected that there may have been something going on, but he also had not wanted to go against the King so obviously. Yet, if he had, YingXue would not have been put in such large danger, and he would have been able to enjoy this night a little bit more.
Then again, Minhyun knew that this was the best circumstance for them. The King would not realize that the Asassain had failed until at least morning, and even then, maybe the King would just assume that they had taken the body with them, though Minhyun doubted. Especially since he had disappeared along with the Prince.
"Are you sure?" Minhyun questioned. "Because, My Lord, it is fine to not understand how to feel. Your father, or at least, who you thought to be your father, almost had you killed."
"I just..." YingXue sighed, dark eyes avoiding Minhyun. "I do not understand. There are so many things that I should know, I should understand, I feel as though...I should be feeling betrayed, you know? My father just tried to kill me. Anyone should feel betrayed about that but..." Minhyun gazed at the prince as they stopped speaking, courage seeming to fail them.
"My lord?"
"I don't feel betrayed, Minhyun!" YingXue huffed, spinning around, his eyes wide and shocked. "I don't, and it doesn't make sense." He grit his teeth closing his eyes to try and regain his composure of his lapse. His breathing was heaving as he attempted to do so, but it took a few moments and he managed himself. "I just feel relief. I should not, but I do, and that is what is troubling me."
