Chapter 7 - Souls

The splashes of milky white were splattered across the sky along with the one prominent white circle that robbed her heart uncountable times.

The spectrum of bluish hues mixed with glittery whites created a splendid view in front of her eyes when she stood in the garden of her father's house.

The cool breeze in the garden cooled down her palpitating heart that was agonising to meet her love after that felt like an eternity to her.

"I miss being with you, Chen Chen. Do you miss me?"

She opened her arms while closing her eyes and thought about the smile that Xiao Muchen gave her when she was about to die and a lone tear escaped from her eye, warming her cheek a bit.

"When you jumped after me, haven't you thought about yourself once? Why did you jump after me when you knew it was impossible to live after falling from that cliff? You wanted to save me but have you thought what if you die there?"

She asked while still closing her eyes and then a stream of tears rolled from her eyes. She went down on her knees and let her silent tears come out from her heart to finish them off.

"I should have asked the real reason when you tore those divorce papers in front of me. Why? Why was I so ignorant of your feelings, Chen Chen? Why was I so short-tempered and naive that I never saw your heart? I am sorry."

Then she saw the sky was changing colours and then turning a bit purple at the end and a lost smile came back to her.

"Last colour of the rainbow…But the start of new life."

She went near a water tap to wash her face. But ended up opening the water sprinklers on and got showered in the feeling of love.

"He must be sleeping in one of the guest rooms. What if I just take a single look? That is not going to make any difference right?"

A thought then came to her mind and with a devilish smile on her lips, she closed her eyes tight jumping a bit. She turned off the sprinklers and then turned to go back inside the house when she bumped into a person whom she least expected to meet in any future nearby.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

Xiao Muchen held her arms tightly and pulled her near him, almost ending the distance between their bodies. His dark eyes rooted deeply into her soul as she got scared by his fearful demeanour.

"What are you doing here at this hour and getting wet like this? Doctor asked you to rest after that accident and you are here getting wet in the cool wind.  Do you know what you are typing to do with yourself? Have you just lost it, Wang Yue?"

He scolded her while leaving her arms and removed his jacket from his shoulders. He promptly draped that jacket over Wang Yue's shoulder and holding her wrist, he almost tugged her with him in careful steps.

Tears started to gather in her brown eyes when she saw him after like eternity for her. She breathed in his sandalwood aroma and all her existence in this world then proved to be true.

Yes, this was the first time she saw him after dying and getting another chance at life and she held onto the fabric of his shirt on his chest to not fall to the ground with so much love and pain at the same time.

"I missed you, my Chen Chen."

Her mind spoke with the silence but that never reached him. She knew it was impossible to tell him but still, her heart denied reasoning it.

"I wish you could feel the same feeling that I am feeling right now, Chen Chen."

But while hoping that she realised the thing that happened to her shocked her to death when she remembered Xiao Muchen had never spoken two big sentences with her in the past and now he scolded her without moving his eyes off her.

She shivered at the thought of past and then present events that drifted in her mind and she instantly held his hand that was holding her wrist and stopped him to look at her looking at the ground.

"Thank you… I am sorry that I am troubling you so much with everything. You have to take care of me like this."

The words automatically stopped coming from her lips when she saw that he was taking her inside the house, taking care of her. In this second chance, she wanted to see the real Xiao Muchen.

"Your sorry is not going to change the fact that you are not caring for yourself."

He shouted and immediately regretted scolding her that way. He stopped in his tracks and stood still holding on to her hand.

"Be careful next time. Your health is most important. But don't expect me to be there always. Start taking care of yourself, don't be ignorant."

He turned back and looked at her and a faint smile came to his lips and went back in the next second. If Wang Yue would not know him so well she would have never realised that was a smile.

"No. I won't. From now onwards I will take better care of my life. I won't be naive." She said looking into his deep eyes. "I want to live my life fully because I know on every page of my fate your name is written over it."

The last sentence was just a whisper of her heart that reached her eyes when she gave her famous enchanting boxy smile looking at Xiao Muchen giving him an experience like a mild heart attack for the first time in his life.

They walked fast until they finally stood in front of her room and he let go of her hand. He opened the door of the room without thinking twice and her mind filled with endless questions.

"How do you know my…"

"I was the one who carried you back to your room after getting you home. So I know your room."

Saying that he left her hand and went directly inside her bathroom and ran a hot bath for her.

"I ran hot water for you. Please, take a hot bath otherwise you will get cold. You need to keep yourself warm as much as possible. Good night."

He held on to the door of her room and when he was about to exit from her room, she called him back.

"Xiao Muchen, thank you for saving my life without caring for your life.

"You don't have to say that again. I hope this second chance of life will change your life positively."

And he closed the door behind him leaving Wang Yue to shed the last bit of tears that were threatening to come out since the time she saw him again in her second life.
