Iris took her time and soaked in the wooden bathtub filled with water and rose petals Cyil had prepared for her earlier. She crossed her arms over her knees and sighed. She and the other maidens needed to take a bath daily, because unlike the faeries, they easily smelled.
Though Shayla Kingdom provided refuge for the tribute maidens, it didn't mean that the rest of its residence held high regards for mortal humans like them. Some look at them in disdain, while others pretended that they were no more than slaves at their disposal.
