Iris sucked in a deep breath and held onto Kieran's shoulders as his emotion washed through her. She knew it was his because the intensity of these emotions felt foreign to her. His fear, worries, resentment and gratitude came to her wave after wave. She lifted her head and looked at his face in a trance. This man, this darkling, wanted her, desired her like no other had.
"Iris…" He made it sound like her name was beautiful. Kieran made her feel like she mattered.
Iris found herself crying once again. These feelings he conveyed to her through their mating bond had proved that she wasn't the only one who'd been in despair while they were apart. She wished she could have done better during the invasion of the unseelie faes at Alfheim, but she knew there could be nothing to do to change what had already happened.
