Iris didn't like the tone of his words, as if Lord Kieran was giving her an order. She was his mate, not one of his subjects.
"I thought we're mates. You are giving me orders now? Just so you know, me and Amelia are decent fighters and my control on magic is slowly improving these days, courtesy of Marcus's help."
The muscles on the demon lord's jaw twitched but Iris didn't notice it. She was still oblivious to the fact that Lord Kieran found the Ashwood siblings suspicious.
"No, Iris. I'm telling you this as your High Lord, not your mate." His tone gave no room for argument. Iris noticed that this was the same tone he uses whenever he spoke to his three courtiers.
