Leah
Two weeks passed in a blick of an eye, like a passerby wind.
Ok, Haze and I did try to get along, but he was.... what can I say.. I wanted to strangle myself to death or dig a hole and burry myself in it.
He has the habit to sleep half naked and recently I found out I had the unknown habit to cuddle. I seriously never knew I do that!
I don't mind that I've a strange habit, but who the duck knew I loved his arms around me! And damn does the muscles flex although he doesn't intend to do that.
One time, I didn't believe that I was the one initating the touchy cuddling and I decided to sleep on the couch for the night, but the next day, I ended up going back to the bed next to his side without knowing. I'm a light sleeper, so I should have known if he carried me to him.
I apologised him again and again feeling so ashamed for blaming the wrong person.
And yeah, he does this kissy missy thing when he is away for the work. What work does he do, I wonder?
The other day, he was late for the dinner. I thought maybe I will eat on my own, alone, all alone. My spoon wouldn't want to enter my mouth, my appetite was leaving me. I'm never fond of heavy meals, but I eat now. I promised him we'll eat together. Then I picked up the sound of the lock opening, so I jumped right off my chair and stood firm with my arms behind me.
"Mister!" My voice pitch is a bit high, but I tried to change my voice into a manly bossy like that of a sergeant, "you're 10 minutes late. Is this the punctuality of the grown man? So dissapointing. Tsk tsk." I lectured him.
He just pinched my cheeks, and pecked my forehead. Humph! See I told you right?! He did it again! His eyes fell on my baggy shirt.
"That's so sweet of you to welcome your sweetheart, angel." He smirked, looking at the stupid shirt brother brought for me. I rolled my eyes, why do people care about what I wear anyways?
I just dropped his late coming. To lighten the mood, I joked, "did you stay out late to plan a murder or what?"
".... why do you ask?" There was a slight pause and quick off the mark.
"Cause there's a strain of blood on your collar." It must be a coloured paint. Was he out in construction sites?
Still since we were in the boss and sergeant role play, I played my role.
He said nothing, so I decided to take his shirt.
"Hand me that. And you can change. You shouldn't stay dirty. That's a bad example. I'll put them in the washer later."
He pinched his temples, and chuckled.
"Sure, those drunkyards were such troublesome that I had to put them in the freezers after cutting their... nevermind." Is he referring to that old men in front of the arcade? Anyways, he really knows how to make dark jokes, although it doesn't sound funny to me, at all. But all in all, he's back and now he can listen to me nagging! I spoke a lot about... anything that came to my mind. Randomly recollecting our time together. He will make a great company, I must admit that at the least.
What good thing is I didn't hate it. I'm glad! My body isn't rejecting the touches from other than my family. Maybe I'll be able to be normal. Maybe he's different?
He took me to lots of place I always wished to go with someone from the to-do list in my diary when I stayed home covering away in my room.
Aquarium, the amusement park! I loved it! I even got a bunny earband!
Mom and dad never got the time for family, brother was always busy away in business trips and Sara... she would be busy doing her things like always on the road trips with her groupies during holidays.
So yeah, it's me and the mansion. But now, it seems I'm addicted to his presence around me. I know it's not good to depend on someone but a little bit of it won't hurt me. It's still vacation!
Then to the beech, I am curious why Haze say, 'I'm allergic to bitches....' or did he beach? Still he came with me.
I didn't like the fact that random girls kept on asking him out though he shunned them straight away. Even when's taking a nap, there were girls taking his pictures.
To avoid troubles, I burrowed his whole body under the sand while he went to sleep.
I even took a picture keeping it as my wallpaper for my phone. Cheese!
Later as he woke up to be a merman, he chased me and then splashed me into the water from his arms. I didn't know how to swim, so I paddled to stay up the ground and held onto him when he found out about me not able to swim, my legs tightly holding onto his waist like a koala. He tickled the side of my tummy to let me go off him, but I rubbed more to his body. So... you know.... it's embarrassing to say this but his manhood... forget it... I'm blushing so hard thinking about it.
(*μ_μ)
For days, it rained, so we stayed home and he was just working on his laptop, so I was bored as hell. Then he gave me a VR set to pass my time which belonged to his sister. I was never a game person, so this was my first time.
I curiously wondered how to play or control the controller, and I ended up knocking the vast and when a zombie appeared from who knows where, I threw the controller screaming like a high school girl at the zombie. I even broke the controllers when I accidentally knocked the lamps.
Haze took the VR geer from my freaked out face, calming me down grabbing my hands and then I saw the mess I made in the place. I only created problems... but I enjoyed it so much!
And a lot happened.. Teehee~. I created lots of problems-- guilty of charge--- but I don't regret it.
In the rocking music, in my imagination, for my every slow motion and action, I get ready in front of the mirror in the stylish fashionable way, with my black hoodies and my... plain pocket blue jeans, a watch over my wrist and trim hair, though it seems its growing longer. My bag pack on the back.
"This is not your wedding to be this excited you know, when it is, I will make sure you get the best of it," he leaned by the door of the bedroom and said to me.
"Ha," I scoffed as I diverted my attention from myself in the mirror, "and you, whose wedding is it? And you are missing the flowers if you are going to one of them," and I added on it, "it will never be in mine, got that?" I don't want him getting on my nerves saying it's ours. Blah!
"Right. If I miss your wedding, you'll be too." He teased, furthermore annoying me.
We looked at each others eyes for a brief minute, doing a glare competition, and my eyes were itching to close with how the 'look' he was giving me! As if he was full of mixed emotion that I can't point out.
"Ok, you won, so stop making me shiver with those eyes! It's giving me goosebumps." I brushed pass him, then out the room to the elevator, pushed the botton close, and then it didn't shut.
With me, this he had to step in and then closed.
"Why are we in here together?" I maintained a meter distance from him to the edge of the vacant elevator.
"Cause I want us to, and I will be also watching over you as a guardian as requested by your parents."
"Oh.. ok," I nodded since that will be is only reason to stay with me, cause he wants to and he is my...??
I turned to him perplexed, "why would you do that?"
He sighed and replied, "you ask lots of questions. I can shut it with kisses if you want? Do you want me do?" He's making petty jokes again. He's joking right?
"....." He took one step forward while I crouched, tightly gripping the handrails until he towered me.
"Good boy," he petted my head, messing my hair.
"...." Still I said nothing. The I looked at my time.
Ok, I popped some bone of my knuckles.
*crack *crack
"What. You... doin?" He gave me the weirdest expression.
"Oh boy, good that you asked. I'm loosening my body, getting ready for the war (bullies if there will be any), and dash through the corridors to the school building without having my mission interupted (no gossips about me should stop me from being happy) and follow my motto (avoid violence, avoid attention to avoid troubles)"
Three. Two. One.
I elevator opens, and I ran for my life.
I didn't even know I was getting late! I will be running late if I don't hurry!
I ran and ran up the stairs of the school buliding or is it a mansion, with the help of the directions given, I managed to get to the office where I got my schedules, locker number and my first class, English.
I slided the door open in hurry and shouted, "I'm present! Present! Present!"
Eh?? Every students attention was on me, and the professor was still not here.
Lucky me! Yahooo! \(≧▽≦)/
A tragedy hasn't occur to me, since everyone already knew each other and was in the groups chatting and talking, I was left alone. A peace, I smiled, no enemies, war avoided!
But I think one person was having all their eyes focused on my back ever since I entered.
Ignoring them, a sit was empty on the first row by the window side, I quickly put my back down and took my books out along with my notepad.
As my part time, I took on the job as ghost writer under my pen name L. Cam., so I had to think more about how I should go about it with the investigative essay of Small Business Analysis.
"Hey class!" A blonde girl in her heals and short skirt emerged in the class, "we got a hot professor!"
The girls were squeeling like mouse, gossiping about someone. I shrugged my shoulders brushing these rumors off. I don't care.
"Small Business growth is defined by the change in size during a determined time span. Entrepreneurship is what determines their survival chances among big businesses. Constant growth..... on and on... so basically it means it needs to work more than big business on low payment or financial crisis and time commitment but has more freedom of choices. If they say small business's growth are pretty difficult to survive independently, I hear they're rejected from taking loans from banks and bigger companies? Do they judge small entrepreneurs based on money they own? Or how proficient they are?"
I jot down the main points, doubts and I haven't even realised the professor already entered the room.
A finger pointed out my mistake in front my eyes, startling me for a sec.
"It's logical to judge by proficient and profit. If neither, I personally prefer having higher shares and help them grow though they loses ownership. There's skilled employees beneath which are taken under higher departments or given to them to nurture it. I prefer it since they know it like the back of their rather than assigning strangers to watch over it." Right, it's makes sense.
"Than-" I stopped dead, when I looked up at the person, a professor in cool glasses walked in, a literature book under his arm and stunt dead expression, and it was none other Haze.
I knitted my brows and shot him the look.
Puff...
"AHAHAHAHAHHA!" I banged my hands on the desk desperately trying to stop my laughter, and it wasn't helping me.
Even my tummy began to hurt so much, "what's with your ridiculous transformation? Puff.. Ahahaha!" I pointed at him.
"Thought so. Still, I got your attention." He muttered under his breathe, completely satisfied with himself.
Oh shoot! We are in the class! I coughed hard, "Oh good. Ahum! Ahaha throat testing. *cough cough* My sore throat's finally gone. Sorry, proceed."
"Apology accepted.... not." He was deadpan. Wah! So strict! I'm going to get in trouble on my first day.
"I'll you off the whole if you do as I say from now on." He lightly hits my head with his hand. I winced and blicked my eyes, it didn't hurt at all.
"What a weirdo." Here they go again.
"What a pretentious wannabe." I only need ignore them.
"As for the rest, today I must say there'll be no class for today. Get started with your basic introduction. When you still got the chance, it's better to build connections." Especially me, I can tell he was referring to me particularly: a loner.
He leaned on to his front desk, without any change in his demeanour.
"I'm only taking the taking the substitute for a week to teach you about business ethics until Ms. Regan takes resume her classes. And I'm Dean Morgan."
Dean? He's hiding his real name.
"Mr. Dean! A question!" The girls were raising their hands and fighting for their turn to get his attention.
"Yes?" His tone aren't getting any soft. He is a complete opposite of how he was with me.
"How old are you?" "Irrelevant question." Sheesh... he's scary when serious.
"Are you single?"
"No," he smiled, secretly ogling me. Tsk! Now you want to answer their questions? I secretly glared at him.
"Woah, he's smiling so bright," I heard the back girls drown in his charm. Urgh. Typical teenage girls.
"Are you married?"
"Not yet." So cocky!
"Any lover!"
"Fiancé," he was really grinning handsomely, "a stubborn one."
I made sure he see me silently mouth in anger, 'Don't. You. Dare. Drag. Me. In.'
He crossed his arms and sighed, "a super stubborn brat."
Why you!! Humph. I'm brat. Then I will be. Oh right, he's the one acting stupidly annoying! Why is he calling me stubborn, you dork!
He returned to being the mean old man and got their attention, "We can start from the last to the first."
"Paulette Clay, 17, a scholar student from Romania, Laşi." The silent girl simply introduced herself as asked and took her sit, a piece of cake.
"Casper Long, 17 same here, and I am long even down there, feel free to join me in ****** street in ********." He was flirting with the girls. So, he must be the player. He has the look to hook, so yeah, girls won't complain I guess. If you don't want to be labeled as a creeps, your looks can help. That's the world we leave in.
"Alfon Gentzel, swedish, 18 and I want to sleep." He has a sttud body, more type of athletic and sporty guy but still lazy . What kind of classmates am I getting? I snickered.
It went on and on, till I was the last one.
By that time, everyone was making fun of each others name.
"I'm Toron- no! I mean I'm Lea-h Camer-on, 17, and... andd... I.." I bit my lower lips. I am not good with intoducting myself. My heart was pounding out of my chest.
"Good job, you can sit." And I just sat down dissapointed at myself. Speaking in the room filled with people, I was never good. I still don't know why.
"Cameron? Don't you think we know his name?" Here goes nothing. History will repeat again. My heart bit stopped beating, and tried my best to ignore. Remember my motto.
"You mean that... Cameron family? That Leah who sleeps around? Was it a year ago? The case which got dropped out of nowhere?"
I held my tears back, but it is not me. I didn't sleep with them.
"Any false accussion or groundless rumors are forbidden here. So if anyone who spreads it will be immediately be expelled or even worse as per the third degree rule," Haze declared, silencing the whole class, "then I will be going."
He glanced at me for the last time but I shook my head I was ok. And I'm glad he agreed, but reluctantly.
So? Everyone dropped the subject and glupped their lumps of their own saliva. They wouldn't want to receive that kind of punishment which will ruin their future forever.
"Hey!" It was that Casper guy. He called out to me from afar, foolishly grinning at me.
"Uh... hello?" I greeted.
He twirled the chair to my desk, and curiously asked, "are these rumors true?" He leaned in closer.
"No." As if he will believe me. I was about to leave when he zealously welcomed me.
"Ok, then. Welcome to Ravendale High! nice to meet you, Leah! Cute name by the way!" He flirtingly said.
"You don't think I am lying?" I pointed the finger to myself, like an clueless dumb.
"Why would I? I only hear the truth from the owner, not from the gossipers. It's better to hit it off from the sourse rather than the bunch of broken half cooked news or is that how you say?." He explained, he himself wasn't sure if that's how you say it.
"But won't they talk about you too if you-"
"Nonsense. When will they not talk about me? I am the main topic for them to gossip. Don't worry, I am used to it." He reassured me.
But can I trust him? What if, he turns out to fake it.
"Hey? You good buddy?" He snapped his fingers.
I shock my head, "it's nothing. I- I am just sure if I should trust you or not." I blunt out.
"You can trust me!" He was fired up, "a friend in need is a friend in-dead!"
"It's indeed." "Whatever."
I guess I will give it another shot then.
So the rest of the day, we attended different classes so I couldn't talk with him much. He was smooth talker unlike me, so he already grew a circle of friends.
This was not a good sign. Everything was turning out the same way. The popular guy, those rumors, my fear. But one good thing was that I wasn't getting bullied. I slightly tilted my head down to the ground, afraid. Inside of me, the fear was rising and my confidence were dropping low.
"Leah?" Someone called out from nowhere. It startled me.
"Haze? Where are you?" I searched for him around me, no one was around me.
"Right ahead. Just come."
"Where?" Right when I reached by a door, a hand grabbed me into the vacant room and hugged me.
"Relax. It's just me." Haze hushed me, never letting me go.
"What are you? An oracle?" I asked. He knew when to appear and disappear. This guy can't be a human.
"I am a mortal being who just loves you," I clenched his arms, tightly.
"Why is it so easy to trust you, and not them?" I whispered sadly.
"Because I love you."
".....haha. I didn't ask for a joke." Bunch of liars.
No one ever tells the truth. They all lie. I want to say that to him, but my heart is starting to give in.
"... I.." I pulled away, shocked, I actually...
His presense is scarying me more than my fear. Something is changing in me, and I don't want change, so I escaped from there. Man! Did someone transplant some chip inside my brain to work against my will?
I attended my classes, spacing off.
Even in the lunch break, I didn't go see him.
When I didn't, "Leah? Come with me," he came to pick me up from the class. As a student, I followed his orders.
When we entered the office, no one was present. It was only us, "yes?"
"I want you to skip the class and come with me."
"But-" "no buts. I won't be here for two week or three. And I have to leave today in an hour."
"Where will you be going?" I was upset, let's be honest.
He entwined our hands, pulling me with him out the buliding. Don't ask what the students were doing. Off course staring at both of us, and making up stories. I must say they can make a better story maker than me. I am out of ideas and here they were introducing alien plots.
"Slow done," I spoke, but he didn't. Something must have happened to him.
"Is something wrong?" He's freaking me out.
We made it out to our room, and he locked the door alerted and cautious, but calm on the surface at the same time. He touched the side of my face.
"Listen," he was serious, "whatever you do, don't leave the area boundary, ok? Not at least before I return. And no question asked." He held my shoulders and bend over touching our foreheads.
He was acting strange, usually he's confident when he says things so unusual.
"Ok," I agreed, nevertheless suspicious in every possible way.
"And keep this with you. Might work as a lucky charm." He said, folding my hands after putting something on the palm of my hand, a ring? Hold on a minute? Is he--?
"You promised, so don't go back on your words now. I'm gonna win the bet." He whispered seductively in my ears. It's hot, I guess? What am I thinking stupid!
Not going to lose!
