The inn was a quaint, cozy place tucked away in a quiet part of town. Jasper's friend, Lucian, had been kind enough to offer us a room to stay in while we figured out our next move. I appreciated the gesture, but I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. The town was populated mostly by vampires, and I was acutely aware of their eyes on me whenever I stepped outside.
It was late afternoon when Jasper and I decided to take a walk through the town. I had spent too much time cooped up in our room, and the fresh air felt like a balm to my weary soul.
