Chapter 12 - Blood and Steel (2)

A bayonet from the soldier's rifle pierced the dead commando from the back. The commando tried to grip the soil as the pain from the wound deepened into his flesh. He moaned in pain and blood came out of his mouth.

"Heh, these pests look at them trying to run, but cannot do so. Stabbing them with this bayonet is a sight to see. What do you think sir, these pests mountain monkeys? Should follow the emperor rather than oppose the emperor."

The soldier said while he stabbed another dead commando body. Then his sergeant said while also aiming his rifle at a tree and leaves.

"Aim for their head if they are going to attack us. Those scums are tough. Even if they get shot in the body, they will still attack and can kill any of you. So be alert as always and don't lose focus. And clear the perimeter. After that, we shall return."

The soldiers continue their patrol and stab any commando body they see. Even those who are already dead and do not move. They were happy doing that and the commandos who stayed back and tried to take the dead bodies of their comrades saw what happened.

"Those bastards. They are scums, how dare they do that to dead people. They are already dead and they are still killing them. Those shits dog of the emperor. They are a disgrace to the long history of the empire and they just serve a bastard usurper."

All three of them were watching above a tree branch while they aimed their rifles at the soldiers who were on patrol. Then one commando looks at his buddy, who is going to pull the trigger.

"Don't you dare fire that rifle! You sure don't want us to be seen by those bastards? They outnumber us look on how many they have. Let's go back and retreat. Our mission here is done. We are going back to our camp."

When they return to the camp, they see an even more hellish place compare when they first set foot in the camp. Their first time being sent in the front lines after their training. Moans and groans are what they hear whenever they look. Their medics are running from tent to tent, trying to amend the wounds of their brothers in arms.

"I never thought that blood would one day become a river in our camp. Even the tents have blood stains. Dead bodies piled at the side of the tent. While being collected for pickup and mass buried near the camp. Buried without honor, as some commando says."

He looked at his friend beside him. Then his friend replied with a rusty tone of voice because of exhaustion from their return.

"Honor ye, the fight between us commandos versus those dogs. We are honorable indeed."

Then they rested on the side of the tree where the rest of their squad was sitting down. Then their squad leader came out from the tent of the commando captain. Their squad leader turned to them and strolling. While holding the rifle in his left hand while on the right gripping his sword.

"Look, the squad leader is heading towards us. I think something has come up. Stand up, the squad leader is heading towards us. Stand Up!"

When his squad members see him, they all stand up. Squad leader of the CD looks at his men who are all worn out because of the raid. And some of them also have not yet rested. Despite that, he needs to continue what he is about to say.

"All of you listen, because this will be our mission from here on. The commando captain has ordered our squad to train a new fresh batch of recruits that will head our 2nd training camp by tomorrow. So right now we are going to march to head there to reach those fresh bloods. Am I clear!"

"YES SIR!"

They reply with their loud tone voices as if they gave the entire camp another loud roar before it goes back to their hellish place. Then their squad slings their weapons and goes straight, marching once again.

James opened his eyes, seeing his mother beside him. He stands back up and her mother wakes from his sudden movements. She turns her head to where James is going to stand and sees that he is fine.

"How are you feeling, James? You look relieved after a day of rest?"

She touched his neck, then his face. While James is looking at his hands and replies with.

"Mother, there is nothing you should worry about. There should be no problems. I am alright."

When he replies those words to his mother, she smiles and leaves the room. But before she left the room, she said in a calm tone of voice.

"I will prepare your food when I go down, so make sure you are ready."

"Alright mom"

He smiles and then his mother goes down to the first floor. After 10 minutes, James goes down to the 1st floor where his grandfather and grandmother hugs him tight. With their jolly expression and excited faces, they were so expressive of their feelings.

"So proud of you, James, that you have done it. It also amazed us on how you got the white room. But how did you create that room, James?"

His grandfather said while hugging him tight. Then his grandmother also hugged him tight, but her hug was comforting. Then her mother once again said while looking at her parents.

"Father and Mother, can you please let my son eat while you interview him? He is still weak from what happened to him last time."

Then his grandmother and grandfather breakaway from their hug from James. And they let James sit down in the chair while he munches on the food that his mother prepared. While eating, his mother looks at him happily.

After eating the food, he goes out and sees the village is living happily. It seems the village is in another world where there are no deaths that are happening. He walks to the farm they have at the back. The wind is so strong that it even blows his hair to the side.

"James."

His grandfather calls him, and then he turns his head around, looking at his grandfather. His grandfather held his wooden sword stick. While looking at James, who is standing in the middle of the field.

"Yes, grandfather?"

He answered while holding the steel sword that his grandfather had given him. Then his grandfather said,

"The way you hold your sword, grip it tighter so you can feel the manifestation that you are using. That is how you will release the manifestation to any object."

Then he replies with a calm tone of voice.

"Yes, grandfather, is it like this how I hold it in right now?"

He grips it tighter as he swings it left to right. While he swings the sword, his grandfather uses his own manifestation to see his grandson manifestation. When he sees how the sword slowly and releases a small fragment of manifestation release from the steel sword.

"You are doing well. Keep it up, keep slashing your sword left to right and up and down. As you hold it tighter, the stronger you will take on any monsters that you can face."
