Chapter 21 - The bath

"I could some massage from their soft hands. This is so unfair. After all, I was made to go through last night. I deserve a reward and compensation," he grumbled as he approached the bathtub reluctantly.

"I will get them over," the knight began.

"Don't bother, the bathtub is small enough," he replied as he dragged his feet to the bathtub and began peeling off the clothes from his body.

His bath was not as good as I tried to persuade him to enjoy. Even if you have done something all your life, most of the time, you will deliberately forget them all because you have been relieved of that duty.

He missed the hands of the women which were professional and tender as well as sensual. Who would not be pleased by such an act of softness done by beautiful women?

He was forced to scrub his body and the bloodstains on his body were more stubborn than ever before after all he has not been the person to do the scrubbing and scraping off and he has never gotten this soaked in blood before.

He looked at the brown water and began trying to find a way to drain it out. He thought it would be a difficult task but it was as easy as draining the water in his bathtub back at home.

There was a faucet he had not noticed at all and he refilled the bathtub before he dipped himself in the water that was not as warm as the water that was in the bathtub earlier but it was better than soaking in dirty water.

The doctor came to check his body when he was done. All his wounds did not need stitches as he had prayed for. They were simple scratches according to the doctor.

The doctor applied ointments to his wounds and wrapped a few. In total, he had seven wounds, and three of them were wrapped up but the others were too insignificant to need such dressings.

He was not pleased with that knowledge at first as he feared that the wounds might get infected but after remembering that he was not supposed to be scared of small wounds of that sort, he smiled ad nodded at the old doctor.

He also had a very good breakfast and when it was time to leave, he was met by that uncle of his he knew nothing about only that he could the man a five out of a ten over his drinking ability.

He smiled at the man who was tear-eyed about what happened the previous night while he was knockout drunk. "I am okay. I will not mind visiting your home for your fine wine some other time if you will be willing to make women available."

"Oh . . . your highness," the man murmured before he began to sob softly. The man turned away as he could not afford to cry openly before the prince.

After a short while, the man sniffed and cleared his throat before turning to look at Liam. "How many women do you want?" he asked wearing a doting smile that type of smile uncles wear when they just realized that their nephew was now a man and not that little boy who used to hug their legs.

"As many as you can get," Liam replied seriously as he was seriously looking forward to the visit he will pay to this man's mansion.

His 'uncle' laughed and shook his head. "I will do as you please, your highness. Could you talk to the king about what happened?"

"Uh?" Liam asked with his eyebrows raised. He could not help but feel a peculiar hint in the man's voice. He glanced at his knight to check if he was the only person feeling that way.

His knight standing up straight continued to look ahead and Liam returned his gaze to the man and smiled.

"Before I go, could you bring a few bottles of your wine? I would love to take them with me on this journey. I could use some got wine," he told the man seriously.

The man nodded and gestured to his butler to leave.

When the butler returned with four bottles of the wine in a woven basket, Liam took it from the butler and walked off to his horse.

He got close to his knight and asked, "Do you think I was drugged last night?" he asked the man.

The knight shook his head seriously. "No, I do not think so, your highness. Your uncle is known all over the kingdom for his magical wine," the knight reported.

Liam nodded. The wine was indeed very magical. If the man was known for his wine, it confused him how the man passed out when he drank less than Liam did. Liam drank as he kept wanting more and more of the wine.

"He can not hold his alcohol well. He must not drink a lot?"

"No, your uncle is a good drinker. He has never embarrassed himself in public for drinking. I was also shocked last night but I have also heard that the alcohol content of the wine is determined by the person's mood."

"You also know a lot about my uncle," Liam commented. He was not good at reading schemes in the words and actions of people as he has lived with a lot of straightforward people.

If they hated you, they would not waste their time smiling with you. It was slightly different when he was younger. If they liked him, they showed it and hung around with him.

It was easy for an extrovert like him to get along with those people, that was what attracted them to him in the first place so searching for indirect hatred was not his specialty.

He glanced back at the man standing at the door of the mansion. "He must have a very close relationship with my mother."

"Yes, he does."

Liam nodded and mounted his horse. He concluded that those who could not attack head-on, are cowards and they do not deserve his attention.

He has enough people thrusting their knives and swords toward his neck and he would spend his time tackling them. He banned overthinking for the moment.

"Save journey, your highness," he heard the man shout from behind.

He raised his hand and waved without looking back. "How old am I?" he asked the knight when they rode out of the gate.

"You are twenty-three years old," the man replied and Liam nodded.

Gradually, he will understand all he needs to know about this absurd world for him to survive better.
