Chapter 1 - Prologue

Two figures could be seen fighting in an open arena full of tall trees and greenery covering hundreds of kilometers.

One figure could be seen holding a sword, wearing a black shirt with black pants and an overcoat extending down to his ankle. He wore black chest armor with various designs engraved on them and what looked like black shackles on either of his hands.

The other figure held a large greatsword with just a single hand. It donned an entire suit of white armor with graceful and beautiful engravings.

Both of them were in stances ready for battle, but no one moved an inch. Both of their eyes tracked even the slightest movement made by their opponent. Suddenly, the figure clad in armor decided to charge toward his opponent.

"Why must we fight!? You were like my brother, Mark! I don't want to fight you," said Luke in a melancholic tone as he dodged Mark's attacks.

"We wouldn't have fought in the first place if you had just obeyed the tower lord and become his servant," replied Mark as he continued his slashing and charged forward.

The two figures exchanged blows, cast anomalies, and used various skills that defied common sense. If one saw the remnants of what could be called a battleground, one would not believe that lush trees and bushes ever covered it.

The fight lasted for what seemed like an eternity, and at last, one figure initiated a conversation as if to relax.

"Why! Why don't you already remove the shackles that limit you from using your full power! Are you going easy on me!?" asked Mark in an irritated tone. His armor, which had covered his entire body, was now broken down, and only the armor on his shoulder remained intact.

"As I have already said, I don't want to fight you, who was once my brother! I can't even imagine killing you! But, why!? Why are you so persistent on becoming a Divina under the Tower Lord?!" shouted Luke. Even though both of them had exchanged an equal number of blows, only a scratch could be seen on Luke's face and wrist.

"You don't understand! The power that can be provided to us by the Tower Lord is incomparable to what we currently have! Why are you adamant about returning to Earth, the place we once called home long ago?" asked Mark.

"It is because I am tired of the tower! I never asked to be given the opportunity to become one of the Divina! Then why!? Why was I suddenly summoned to the tower and forced to climb it?!" Luke replied in a tone that sounded as if he was frustrated and tired.

"You don't understand, Luke! We were fortunate enough to get the opportunity to become one of the participants that climbed the tower! Due to our adaptability and skills, we climbed up to the top of the tower! We now have the chance to become gods! I don't understand why you refuse!" replied Mark holding his sword up again and readying himself to charge at Luke.

"Halt!" A voice echoed throughout the wasteland.

An extraordinarily handsome man who looked like he was in his early thirties descended to the ground from seemingly nowhere.

"Tower Lord! Why did you come by yourself?" asked Mark as he fell down to one of his knees and bowed his head.

"You can not beat him, Mark! Not even I can defeat him! Even if we work together to kill him, he will resurrect, for he is a regressor," said the tower lord. His voice sounded tranquil, afraid, and full of rage simultaneously.

"A regressor!? But that is just a legend! How is that even possible?" asked Mark, fear, and confusion showing in his voice.

"You forget. The tower is where legends are born!" replied the Tower Lord as he faced Luke, "You relive the same life even if you die. What a pitiful existence! Even death has forsaken you! But you must be defeated! For if you continue to live, the existence of all the Divina will be in danger!!"

"I won't meddle in Divina's affairs! I just want to return home!" said Luke in a voice that clearly showed his desperation and melancholy.

"Even if you return to your home, a power as great as yours will never dissipate. Even if you say that you won't meddle in our affairs, I can't bring myself to trust you!" said the tower lord.

"Even so! What can you do besides rattle on about it?" asked Luke.

"It seems that you have forgotten! Nothing is superior to the tower! Not even me, the lord of the tower, the greatest of all the Divina! But, as lord of the tower, I have some control over all beings! Even though I can't kill you, it is possible for me to seal you!" said the tower lord, his lips slightly curving upwards.

"But no sealing skill is strong enough to hold Luke!" said Mark, standing behind the tower lord, his eyes fixated on Luke.

"There is one! The eternal library! It was the second existence to come to be after the tower! Not even one as strong as Luke will be able to break it!"

"You will seal me inside my own skill?" Luke was slightly taken aback. The eternal library had been his skill ever since he entered the tower.

"YES!" replied the tower lord as he began chanting unintelligible words.

"You think I will let you do that!?" said Luke as he swiftly got behind the tower lord in what seemed to be the time it took to blink.

He swung his sword towards the neck of the tower lord, who was still busy chanting. As soon as blood came out of the neck, lightly pierced by the blade still in motion, Luke was forcefully summoned to the eternal library.

He had been to this place inside his mind numerous times. But it felt different being transferred here along with his physical body.

"All I ever wanted was to live a peaceful life and return home," murmured Luke as he fell to his knees, letting go of his sword.
