Once The Watcher explained the rules with their name they continued with their speech, "Now that you know why you have woken up here it's now time to explain your purpose for being here. All of you are going to go through a series of games and if you make it to the end of the games then you will be set free. As some of you may have noticed already none of you know your names or remember anything about your personal life before this moment. That will be another reward, the farther you make it the more you begin to remember. We have allowed you one thing to go by that way you don't get too confused with each other and that's the first letter of your first name." The Watcher explained.
This made everyone in the group begin trying their hardest to remember anything they could about themselves but they weren't able to find anything except for their very first initial.
'J.' J thought to himself as he remembered the first initial in his name. Now that J had his initial he looked around him and saw many people with concentrated faces while they tried to remember something more but there were also people with smiles on their faces now that they knew something about themselves.
"Now that you know your initial and I have introduced myself I would say it's high time we start the first game." The Watcher said bringing back everyone's attention toward them.
Once The Watcher saw that all eyes were on them again they continued with what they were saying, "For your first game we will be starting light but don't think it will be a walk in the park, otherwise, you might just die. Obstacles will begin appearing all around you to try and push you off the platform you're currently standing on. After each one passes the speed at which they come toward you will increase and so will the difficulty so pay attention. I'm sure if you look at the edge of your platform you won't want to fall off." The Watcher said making J and many others survey what they were standing on and realize that it was indeed a large platform.
J inched toward the edge of it and slowly peeked over only to be shocked at what lie below. Sitting at the bottom of what had to be at least a 100-foot drop were metal spikes that pointed upward menacingly waiting for someone to fall onto it and be impaled. J then looked outward beyond the platform looking for something that he might be able to get to or something that might give him a clue of where he was but all he saw was an open expanse of darkness and spikes that went as far as he could see.
"NOOO!" One person shouted as they broke down crying at the edge of the platform. It was at this point that many realized that the situation they were in was quite serious and they needed to be ready for the game that was about to begin.
"With that explained and out of the way I would like to once again welcome you all to the Midnight Games and officially let the games begin!" The Watcher shouted ignoring all of the people that were currently crying or breaking down due to the realization of their situation. When The Watcher finished, the screen that showed him disappeared and was replaced by a whirring sound that was present all around the platform.
J quickly began spinning around looking for anything that may help him more understand the game or what part of the platform he needed to move quicker. Unlike others, he tossed his emotions and his feelings on the matter aside for now and kept reminding himself that if he got lost in emotion the only thing that would be greeting him were the spikes below.
Some people around J were doing the same thing while some others were still on their knees crying oblivious to the situation. There were even one or two people that still hadn't awoken from when they arrived and were sleeping with no care in the world.
Suddenly while J was looking in a certain direction the whirring seemed to be getting louder and louder in that direction. J looked intensely at the direction that was getting louder and within his view and many others the first obstacle that they had to face appeared.
It was a very simple pole that was low to the ground and was going toward them at a relatively slow pace. J looked at it and watched it closely as it slowly entered the platform. Many people backed away from it at first but some people began jumping over it clearing the first obstacle.
Once the others saw that the people that jumped over it were ok they also began jumping over it and soon enough more than 90% of the people had jumped over including those that were previously crying and even some people that had just woken up and had a confused look on their face but J was not one of them. J hadn't jumped yet because he saw that there were two people still on the ground. One of them was the redhead kid that had been shocked at the beginning and the other was a little girl that looked at the most 12 years old.
J felt within himself that he couldn't let those two just get pushed off by the pole and when J looked up for help he realized that the others weren't even worried about the two on the ground and instead were looking out into the darkness for the next obstacle.
'Guess I have to do this myself.' J said before rushing toward the redhead.
The pole was slowly making its way still but J was able to quickly make it to the redhead with no issues despite him being on the other side of the platform. J rushed to test and see if the electricity was still there by poking the kid's body and when he felt himself not being shocked he quickly wrapped the kid up in a princess carry before running toward the incoming pole.
