Lucy was exhausted, but she didn't want to say it. She flew with Lili back home, picked up her car, and safely got Lili back home. They excused herself from the funeral because she had work. Then she dragged her ass to her flat, took a shower, changed her clothes, and hurried back to Prague, catching the flight to Beijing.
Oh, and one thing.
She managed to excitedly open at least one photocard of Haku she bought from another fan. Together with the clear case for her phone, she ordered, too. It made a combo that refreshed her a bit. And every time she looked at the back of her phone, a light hint of happiness and less tiredness appeared inside her.
When she arrived at Warsaw airport, she was tired as hell, almost having no energy for her transfer.
"I've sent you the information in your email. I know what happened to Lili, so she can't be with you as I planned. The visa was hurriedly taken care of and it should wait for you at the Beijing airport together with a driver. I've sent you a medical dictionary. I hope that you can go through it on your ten-hour flight," her boss called her once more. Just when Lucy was ready to board the plane totally unhappy, she quickly downloaded the folder before handing in her boarding pass.
Lucy wanted to sleep. But she still couldn't. The folder had three books. With more than three hundred pages of words. And she had to at least read through all of them. Remember, at least the English to the Chinese one.
After three hours of constant reading, Lucy had a feeling that she saw only black spots on a white paper, having no idea what those symbols meant or what they sounded like.
And that was the moment she had enough. Going thirty hours without sleeping made her stupid and unable to remember anything. So Lucy put an alarm on and decided to have at least two hours of sleep. She was dead instantly, headphones in her ears, Gochu singing a sad song. That was all she needed after closing her eyes.
Two hours later, she woke up, lying on the shoulder of the woman beside her, feeling her mouth running down her face. Embarrassed, she raised her head and apologized.
"Don't worry. I saw you were exhausted and pale. So I let you sleep. You look much better now…" Lucy was touched by that kindness.
"Can I pay you back somehow?" she asked, but the lady just shook her head.
"It was nothing. It reminded me of my son when we used to travel together… He would always sleep like you on my shoulder. I'm glad you did it," the lady said and smiled sadly. It was enough for Lucy to know she shouldn't ask. Something painful had happened and Lucy shouldn't be prying into that more. Opening old wounds was never good.
She went back to reading all those dictionaries. And after two chocolates and sleep. It went much smoother. It actually reminded her of the last-minute studying in the evening or morning before an exam.
"Are you a doctor too?" the lady asked when she saw the words in Lucy's books.
"I'm just an interpreter…" Lucy shook her head, but the lady was even more surprised.
"Just? Don't belittle yourself. I would be totally done without people like you. You provide people with connections. You are the transmitters of the world. You carry the information where it needs to be. Be proud of what you do." Lucy had no idea how much she needed that. Those simple words made her smile brightly as she hugged the lady, sitting beside her, surprising her so much that she just sat there stunned.
"Thank you. I will remember this for a long time," she said and gave the lady at least a chocolate she had in her bag.
Soon after Lucy finished the last-minute cramming, the plane landed.
She left still tired, but her steps were much steadier. The only thing left now was to find the person that should pick her up and drive her to the hotel. Where she could catch up on sleep.
Walking down the hall, Lucy heard loud yells through her headphones and before she could look around at what was happening, she was knocked down from behind. A scream escaped her throat, but it probably totally disappeared from the noise that surrounded her in a minute.
"I'm so sorry. I hope you are not injured." Deep voice speaking Korean sounded beside her. She heard it because the song ended, and a hand helped her up. Lucy shook her head and felt her feet slip and ended up on her ass again.
"You damaged your shoes. I'm really sorry," he said again and let her go. But Lucy wasn't looking at him at all. All she could look at was her phone.
"Excuse me, can you lift your leg?" she asked in Korean and actually crawled to that guy's feet. He jumped back, startled and confused, even more, when he saw a phone he was standing on. She quickly turned the music off.
"I'm so sorry. It's all my fault… If you tell my manager, I will compensate you," he said. Manager? Lucy was so sad about the cracked screen kneeling down, and turning around the phone, assessing her damage, especially if Haku was okay. To her luck, he didn't slip out of the case and was securely sending her hearts from the photocard.
"It's okay. It was my fault too. I should have walked to the side," Lucy said and got up. Her heel was totally broken, so she just took off her shoes and looked around.
With her phone and damaged shoes in one hand and the suitcase in the other hand, she pushed through the crowd surrounding them.
By the first trash can, she threw away the shoes and walked into the shop. Luckily for her, there was a shoe shop, so Lucy bought a new pair of heels and walked away, leaving all of it behind, trying to forget it.
"SEA! Careful of others!" she heard the velvet voice say. Lucy halted her steps. SEA?! C-land's fandom? Rude bunch… Lucy was sure she would never listen to those guys, not even when they themselves would beg her to do it.
Before, she thought they were kinda cool, but they can't even hold back their own fans. The fandom represents their group. And when the fandom is rude, that group is definitely no different.
Lucy, disgusted with the fandom, continued her own way out of the airport, ducking every time she heard the yelling getting too close to her, expecting another tackle.
Rude and loud bunch of fans. No wonder others are not pleased with Kpop idols at the airport. They only made problems.
