My resolve had done nothing to prepare me for the despair I would face when I didn't find the books in Fashire's study. I was close to weeping when I saw only one document sprawled across the messy floor with other books that had been knocked off the shelf. I had torn through the books both on the floor and on the shelves, going as far as tearing the whole study chamber upside down, but all I was left with was that one book.
I was only able to deduce two things then. Fashire had taken them in a hurry and something had happened to him for him not to notice the one he had left behind. Nevertheless, I was furious. What was I to do with just one of them? I had planned to read the texts, but to my dismay, they were not in English.
