¬ HILN
I did not know when the tears began to fall, but they were heavy. I blinked, my fingers still clutching my laps through the folds of my dress. Effer and Maybelle had both gone deathly quiet. My mind went to the ill-treatment I had seen many people face at the hands of these vampires, and I didn't even know what the draconians did on Earth, but if they were dragons, I guess they had wrecked their fair share of havoc.
I trembled, a choked sob escaping my lips. Then I laughed. A low burst of laughter. It was so ironic.
"So you're basically behaving like children with such retaliation?" I asked, my voice heavy and thick with tears.
"Please, watch what you say!" Maybelle clipped in with an offended tone.
"Maybelle," Effer warned. "Her emotions are justified." She then addressed me. "Yes. If it would make you happy, we behaved like children. But I will have you understand that this is the only solution we know."
