In the hall, the massive alien and Corpse Face were still in heated combat. Both of their abilities involved consuming the opponent's matter to enhance themselves.
In a short time, a victory or defeat was unlikely.
The captain was still nowhere to be seen, his actions indicating a clear intent.
In the matter of the stowaways, the captain wasn't invincible. Engaging the aliens could potentially result in his injury or even death.
Now, the idea was to use Corpse Face, the abomination of the fifth floor, against the stowaways. Once dealt with, the captain would then handle Corpse Face.
After all, however strong Corpse Face might be, it would be influenced by the ship's Authority. It could not inflict effective damage on the captain.
This approach was virtually risk-free.
And then there were the abominations like Jack, working towards some purpose that was beneficial to the captain, trying to take out Wolf Smoke, another stowaway.
