Chapter 24 - Six against 50,000 2

As the alarm kept repeating, the group started hearing the people of the base discussing while they made their way towards the labs.

"Squad? She said squad, right? As in at most eight people? These mother*ckers are crazy, charging into a demonic tide of 50,000! Aren't they just being sent to die?"

"50,000! 50,000! Body hell, the base almost fell when a tide of 20,000 arrived 50 years ago. How the hell will we survive? Why aren't the Asgardians sending more people to intercept?"

"WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!!!!"

As the voices of the civilians and soldiers resounded in a cacophony of grief and fear. Cain's group reached the labs and saw what looked like Aimzay and Cannitrash.

Aimzay was in sleek green armor and had what looked like six folded spider legs in pairs of threes on his shoulders. The rifle he initially had increased two sizes and now looked like a cannon that would fit on a tank.

Cannitrash, on the other hand, was in black armor that was rounded but solid; the suit also had white fins on his shoulder blades. His crossbow was mounted on his right arm with what appeared to be a shield and large crossbow bolts. His armor, no matter how bright it was in the lab, seemed gloomy as if absorbing the light.

A large grappling hook with a golden arrow tip appeared on his left arm. The two jogged in front of Cain and saluted neither looked grim nor resigned to die as they started relaying the messages from Lorelei. Aimzay was the 1st to speak.

"Captain, your gear has been prepared; Vasiliás and Lorelei are at the gate. She said to finish our preparations and proceed to the main gate. According to her, once you don your suit, you will be sent information through a spell. This should allow you to know the strengths and weaknesses of the Fenrir battle suits."

Knowing this is a crucial time, Cannitrash spoke in a voice overflowing with killing intent.

"Captain, we heard everything through the dog tags; we know about Jin's family and your sister. You believed in me, so I will give my life to you. We are Beowolves; let this be the first of our victories."

Overwhelmed by the vigor of his new men, Cain nodded and proceeded to wear his Fenrir battle suit.

It could be described in one word. Sharp, the suit of armor was white with sharp edges sticking out from the shoulders and knees even to the feet. It was a like medieval suit of armor that had gold accents.

The helm had a mane of red hair as if to call attention to it. The central chest piece had a red cape attached to the back of its shoulders. Unable to keep himself stoic. Cain started smiling as he looked at his new equipment and quietly said.

"F*ck, that's cool."

After he donned the entire armor, a sound came out from his helm as he could hear the other Beowolves.

"OHH! CAIN, you look so handsome!  My knight in shining armor!"  (El)

"El, why are you so biased? When I wore mine, you called me a red ladybug." (Abel)

  "…"  (Jin)

"Captain, looking sharp as a blade." (Adriel)

"Captain, we have 10 minutes before the demon beast tide arrives." (Claude)

As he listened to his squad, he wondered if they were crazy as they all took things at their own pace; only Jin was noticeably silent. At the same time, he was contemplating how to plan their defense. A teenage sound was heard inside their helmets.

"Finally, everybody is online; I will now send all the information about your suits to prepare for synchronization. This is going to hurt."

No one knew what synchronization was, but they all needed the information on their suits as fast as possible. So, the entire team kept quiet, waiting for the teenage Asgardians' following words.

"[To pnévma yperischýei is ýlis] {Synchronization mode: Mind over matter}!"

As the information loaded into everybody's minds, they all struggled to remain conscious. It must be known that synchronization hurts a lot as it burns new memories into the target's minds. So, if they are not prepared, they could die from information overload.

After the spell transfer, everyone was sporting nose bleeds, but everyone was still conscious and alive. They now knew how to use the Fenrir battle suits in the most effective way possible.

The six warriors covered in armor began starting their suits' support and defensive spells. The spells allowed the use of systems like Radar sight, subroutine processing, spell jamming, Force deflective coating, etc.

When they all finished completing the essential details, Abel couldn't help but say.

"Damn, these Asgardian eggheads are too much. I thought asking us to take on an army of 50,000 was too much now; I think it is too little."

After learning of the abilities of their new armor, they each felt they could take on the world.

All suits had passive spells built into the metal, such as the ability to see in a 360 view around the user and the ability to make computations by using a dedicated second brain.

On the other hand, defensive spells such as 'Counter chanting' for Force spells and a 'Force Impact deflection spell' were loaded into bits and pieces over the armor. However, all that was needed for both was to supply their Force into the suits, and the systems would work until they fainted.

As the suits had different functions, each unit had its role. However, true regardless of the six was the power they were able to produce, which placed their owners at Sun ranked levels. In both offense and defense.

Cain nodded with a smile as he led the Beowolves to the front gate. He was armed with a single long sword, a black crossguard, and a red sheath. It looked humble, but the blond swordsman knew it was more than enough. Now he understood why Lorelei kept saying they were as good as trash if they couldn't win with the Fenrir battle armor.

As the heavy doors of the fortress slowly opened. All Asgardians in the vicinity were looking at the mecha-looking suits of armor, slowly walking towards the demonic horde. A warp gate of gold opened around 40 kilometers from the fortress. The opening was large, and it was behind the 50,000-strong army.

At that moment, a hanger on the top floors of Black Hammer fortress opened as a blue shuttle slowly poised itself to take off.

It didn't use traditional fossil fuels but instead used wind and fire-based force spells focus and configured to give the shuttle tremendous momentum. It stood waiting for the signal to launch.

As they started walking towards the demonic beast horde, aA teenage Asgardian's voice echoed across their helmets.

"I gave you everything you need to win this battle. You have two missions.

1)      Make sure the shuttle is not damaged as it leaves for the warp gate, and

2)      Annihilate the demonic beast horde without letting a single one survive. No one from the fortress will assist you as they will only defend the walls.

Cain, the portal will only remain open for 5 minutes; it takes 4 minutes for the shuttle to arrive at the portal. I leave the timing to you. Signal the ship to depart when you are ready. You have 60 seconds to cleave a path.

If you six cannot survive this battle, I have no longer any use for any of you. Failure is not an option. Howl, my wolves, bear your fangs on those that stand in our way! Asgardian Tactical Xperimental Squad 003 Beowolves prepare for battle. The time for words has passed. It is now time to act!"

Knowing it was now his stage Cain roared in the loudest voice he could muster as if to drive the fear away. He slammed his visor down as he drew his sword. The golden-haired captain had blood-red energy pouring out of him in waves as he raised his sword towards the sky. He was shouting for the entire fortress to hear. His voice modulated through every corner of the sky.

"Beowolves! We go to intercept the enemy! May we see the light of Victory! CHARGE!"

Six figures glided over the ground as if roller skating while the Black hammer fortress gates opened. Each of them has their reasons for going against the demonic beast tide. Yet all of them stand united in one purpose.

As the heat from their blood pumping at breakneck speeds and enveloped their bodies, the Beowolves charged toward the army of fangs and teeth that threatened to level the entire fortress. To most, such a charge would be comical, yet no one from the fortress was laughing.

One thing was for sure, whether it was due to the sheer tenacity of the charge or the intimidating appearances of their armor. After today, the world would forever equate the name Beowolf to only the ranks of the strongest and most insane warriors who ever walked the Earth.
