Chapter 2 - 2

it's been 17 years already, Anne and I have the strongest bond. Aunty Maggie is looking on sending us to the maidens home where we'll be trained to become a proper wife, Anne is so excited, I don't like the idea. I've never been a big fan of marriage, looking on my parents and how they ended .

it's going to be a three months course , I'll be turning 20 by the end of the week after the completion of the course . everyone is happy and also concerned that I haven't found a partner. people are beginning to gossip, Aunty Maggie is worried. my cousin Elizabeth was recently married and she just turned 18. I'm happy for her but I'd rather pass on the marriage idea.

I think you should start putting settling down on your birthday wishlist, don't you think? Anne said , still busy arranging the vases. just as I was about to reply, James O'clifford walked in "I believe that's a wonderful idea, a ball will be held on your 20th birthday, many will be invited and I expect you to acquire a partner by the end of the day, it will be quite worrisome if Anne gets to settle down before you"

"but.... I don't want to", just as I was about to conclude my sentence, aunty Maggie walks in "no buts" she responds rather harshly.

she's the lady of the house and I cannot disagree . it's going to be traumatic day for me I can say, and they'll be disappointed when I can't find a partner for myself.

there is indeed someone I love, but I don't think this person likes me back . it's more of a one sided love and I wish to keep it that way.

Anne and I leave for the maidens home, we're about 20 in number, crazy how all these girls are here to learn how to manage their homes .

I'm definitely hating it here already.

"Good morning girls, wake up you lazy women, we haven't even began and you've already failed the first aspect of your training" Mrs wimpletoe nags.

I don't know why they call her that but she sure does have hideous toes

"be down there immediately, don't make me come up here again girls"

as we all rush up arranging and cleaning ourselves. we all assemble downstairs, and breakfast is served .

for a home that trains women on how to be great mother's and wives, they sure forgot to train themselves on how to prepare and serve a meal, pathetic .

make-up class is the first activity on the list and I'm sure going to fail this. I mean, make-up has never been my thing. I believe Anne must be having the greatest time of her life.

we're in different sectors, she seems to be getting along pretty well, I might as well be the oldest in here or maybe not. oh well
