Rekya would much rather serve in a place where she could be free and unhindered, bounded by the rules of the Creator alone and not that enforced by the Priestesses.
However even up till this moment, Rekya knew Junior Priestess Maia had never stopped seeing her as a rival and a threat to her position and took every given opportunity to undermine Rekya.
As Rekya was lost in thoughts, just trailing behind the other acolytes, she did not notice they had arrived the vast courtyard where the knights in waiting stood in an orderly manner, waiting for the door to the Oracle's Hall to be opened.
"Who are the two dashing young men standing at the front?" A young acolyte asked eagerly, her voice drawing Rekya out of her thoughts.
"Ah... the one on the right is Knight Mivore of the Dukedom of Mivore and the one on the left is Knight Galvadore of the Galvadore Dukedom... their sashes bear the insignia of their houses." Acolyte Helena revealed knowledgeably.
"I heard they are two out of the only three Gold Ranked Knights to be knighted this time." Another young acolyte whispered excitedly.
"Indeed, each come from the most prestigious noble houses and were birthed with powerful warrior marks. And come dawn, they shall be amongst the most noble order of knights." Acolyte Helena replied again,
"By the Creator, Knight Mivore looks so dashing! What I'd give to serve at his side..." A young acolyte whispered dreamily earning giggles from the other acolytes.
"While I would agree with you, the path of a knight is ridden with dangers and uncertainties, it is no place for just any acolyte priestess." Acolyte Helena teased, although the dreamy look in her eyes betrayed her words.
"Yet you stare at Knight Galvadore as though you hope to devour him whole." The young acolyte countered, the group of acolytes giggled as Acolyte Helena's face turned red.
"In times past, the Gold Ranked Knights were each accompanied by a Priestess, a Mage and a Squire who swore absolute loyalty to them and aided them on their quests."
"But in recent times, the Knights have come to prefer independence, relying only on one another and no external parties."
" At least the squires and mages still get the chance to battle for a place at a Knight's side, but that is no longer the case for us priestesses."
"Such privileges are only granted to priestesses of noble birth, all we can do is chant prayers for them from here in the Oracle's Hall, with no chances of venturing out and adventuring side by side." Acolyte Helena said wistfully,
"It's such a pity, if I were to serve a man on quest and beneath the sheets, I would have it be the Knight Mivore." Another young acolyte murmured, earning herself a glare from the other acolyte who had set designs on Knight Mivore.
"Sister Kennedy!" The young acolyte exclaimed in rage.
"Oh keep it down! When it comes down to it, if the Gold Ranked Knights should require the services of us priestesses,"
"We would have to battle for the chance anyways, in which case, it aches my heart to say, you do not stand a chance." The young acolyte called Kennedy replied with a smirk.
