"..Hey, except me, are there any other people with Ancient Bloodline? Particularly, a Transcendent one."
Louis was still a bit suspicious. If this bloodline Azure spoke about was the cause of his abnormalities, then wouldn't the others suffer something similar?
"Huh? Well.. Transcendent... there might be one out there, but you were the only one who caught my eye. You're.. a bit different. Even so, the Egos are all dormant right now, so I doubt that they're able to utilize that bloodline. I don't think they've even realized that they have special blood yet." Azure responded, thinking deeply.
'If there are others, the bloodline can't be the sole reason why I'm like this.' Louis deduced.
"All? Are you saying that you're the only one who managed to break free?"
"I don't know, but it seems like it. I can't feel the presence of other strong Egos around. As for low-ranked ones.. There is a possibility, but it's very small."
'So currently, she is the only one awake. That's.. a bit strange.'
Louis theorized all sorts of situations on why Azure would choose him out of all people.
It could be that he is the only one with a Transcendent bloodline left in this world, but a part of him wished to think deeper.
The unknown energy she said he emitted.
Another reason for him being different.
Why he was Classless.
"Azure, can you teach me how to change my appearance? I want to go into town." Louis said.
"Hm? Alright! Does this mean.. You'll be helping me?"
"No guarantee yet. I'm still deciding." He answered.
"Wait, that's not fair!" Azure protested, pouting her lips.
Grumbling, she held Louis' hand and started guiding him through the process.
The best way to answer his question is to directly look for it himself. Azure couldn't tell him everything, but she provided a clue to the goal he might be looking for.
The fact that he was a Transcendent, his appearance, and his Classless identity.
'Whatever it is, I'll be sure to find out by the end of this journey.'
For starters, he needed to obtain more power. Both the power to fight, and the authority to act around.
By the end of the session, Louis looked completely different from what he used to.
Although the last time his face was publicized was back when he was five, he couldn't help but be extra careful and alter literally everything to make sure nothing bore resemblance to his former look.
To blend well with normal people, his eyes and his hair turned black. He also changed the model of his hair, and tweaked some facial features.
"This should do it!" Louis nodded in satisfaction.
"Woah! You look totally different. I like your previous face more, though."
"Didn't ask you." Louis shrugged.
He stood up from his seat and began looking around for things to pack up and be brought with him, not heeding Azure's angry remarks.
____
They began to head towards the nearest town they could see.
It was the town Louis was born and raised in. A small town called Rudis.
As Louis descended the mountains, his head was filled with a variety of thoughts.
Ones that recalled his experiences under the townspeople, people who ridiculed and loathed him back then.
Ones that wished to enact revenge using Azure. Ones that wished for destruction and bloodshed under his own hands.
'It's too early. I don't even know how strong I am compared to others.' Louis shook his head.
It was far too dangerous. The rules in Avanheid, this world, was far too strict for him to cross.
If he committed a mass genocide, he would be chased down by law enforcers from day one. There was a possibility of him being stamped with their skills. If that happened, he wouldn't be able to run away with his current strength.
When they reached the gates, however, Louis couldn't even dwell on those thoughts anymore.
They discovered that had a very disastrous lapse in judgement.
"Good day! Welcome to Rudis. Can I see your identification card and entry permit?" The guard asked.
Louis instantly turned into a statue, opening and closing his mouth only to find out that no words would come out.
'I forgot this kind of thing existed.'
He had been so estranged from civilization that he couldn't prepare ahead for something like this. He was used to his mountain life, where there was nothing that restricted him such as customs and other people.
'What do I do now?'
The guard began to suspect that something was wrong, and waved his hand in front of Louis' face.
"Excuse me, young man? Are you alright?"
Azure, too, noticed that Louis had spaced out and instantly knew that the kid was in trouble.
"Huh~ What are you talking about, mister?" Azure peeked out from behind Louis and asked. "What are identification cards?"
"What are they, you say..? Isn't it obvious? The card that shows your identity, crime status, and all.. The permit should also be integrated within the card. "
"Hmm.. we can't enter without them? Not even a chance?"
"Of course not!"
"Aww, we don't have them though. Is there any other way around this?" With an innocent tone, she pleaded.
"..Unfortunately not. Hold on, it's very suspicious that you don't even have an identification card. Could you wait here for a moment?" The guard raised a brow and began to converse with the other guard in secrecy.
When they weren't looking, Azure's sweet expression turned into one full of hatred.
"How troublesome.. Say, how about you let me handle this the old-fashioned way?" Azure tilted her head with a grin.
"What do you mean?" Louis questioned with a doubtful expression.
After all, what brilliant ideas could Azure come up with?
"You'll see."
The guards were distracted with their own discussion. Because Louis and Azure didn't look intimidating at all, they weren't very worried.
This was their biggest mistake.
With silent steps, Azure smacked the back of the two guards' neck with a strong force, effectively knocking both of them out.
"Sorry, I slipped!" Azure giggled.
By the end of her 'clumsy' acting, the two guards had collapsed and were lying down on the ground, not moving.
