"You created an explosion in such a confined space?" Chojuro asked with a shocked expression to which Yami shook his head and said "Stop asking questions and just follow the plan next time."
"It's hard to take a 10-year-old kid this seriously." Chojuro muttered as he clicked his tongue. The shinobis behind him also wanted to say the same thing.
Yami looked at Zabuza with a questioning look to which Zabuza said "No...he won't be a hindrance to us."
Chojuro was confused when he heard that. He was about to ask Zabuza about it when a bloodline shinobi called out for him. He wasn't among the group that Chojuro was standing with.
"Chojuro and Zabuza-sama, Mei sama has spotted a few cultists and has sent me here to give you the information and location.
Zabuza quickly jumped toward the bloodline shinobi scaring him and the others in the process. "At last some good opponents to fight. Quickly take us there and tell us about them on the way."
The bloodline shinobi nodded and pointed in a different direction. The shinobis who had run from the quicksand said "Now that the quicksand is cleared, we will move ahead and explore the base more. Backup would be arriving for us soon so I don't want to keep you guys waiting."
"Alright then...we'll leave."Chojuro said that within a few seconds, Yami and the 2 swordsmen were now following the bloodline shinobi who brought Mei's message.
"So you are saying that these cultists have tattoos on their bodies and are able to use animal-like claws?" Zabuza asked in a confused way.
The shinobi nodded and said "Yes...They look a little like wolfs but right when they change, for 10-15mins they are too strong and agile, and hiding from them becomes almost impossible. After that, they do get a little weak and even attack each other if they collide while chasing shinobis and so the stone shinobis kill them when they think there are becoming problematic"
"I am hearing new things every day about these cultists." Zabuza chuckled as he looked back at Yami.
"How many of them are there?" Yami asked to which the shinobi said "When I left, we had already faced close to 8-9 of them but seeing how the stone shinobis showed no sign of retreating, I am sure there are plenty more than that."
Just as the shinobi was going to take one more step, he heard the sound of howling. He looked at Chojuro and the others and said "They must be closer than I thought. They must have pushed Lady Mei and the others back with their continuous assaults."
As they reached the location, they quickly saw Mei spitting hot molten lava from her mouth. "Things must be getting worse if Lady Mei had to use her kekkai Genkai so early in the war." Chojuro said as he rushed toward Mei.
Seeing Chojuro Mei immediately said "Chojuro, be careful. These wolfs are very persistent. They won't stop attacking you unless they die or you become their food.
Chojuro's face paled as he heard this and he instinctively rushed to take out his sword from the sheath on his back but he then felt a hand holding his hand.
He looked back and saw Yami holding his hand stopping him from taking out the sword. Chojuro and Mei both looked at Yami and thought 'When did he get here? I couldn't even sense him. If he was an enemy then he could've killed me easily.'
"Pulling out your sword will attract them towards the chakra of the sword. After all, you have one of the seven swords. Right now they aren't focused on us then let's keep it that way." Yami said.
"What are you saying Yami? We can't let our people die like this. We should give it our all and finish them all." Chojuro said.
Yami tilted his head a little and looked at Chojuro as he said "Yes, let's use all our strength and kill them. Then we will get tired so get back to the Terumi estate and take a nap to get back our strength."
"Huh?" the sarcasm didn't go through the thick skull of Chojuro but Mei understood it well.
She patted his shoulder and said "Yami is right Chojuro. We can't use all our strengths on them. These all are just discardable pawns for the cult and the hidden stone. They are just trying to tire us so that they can launch an attack at the opportune time."
"But we can't just watch our people get hunted like that Lady Mei" Chojuro was still persistent about saving the shinobis that the wolf cultists were hunting.
Yami didn't say anything and picked up a few stones. The others were confused as to what he was planning but the next second he threw the stones at the wolf cultists grabbing their attention.
"Making them all focus on you? What are you planning Yami?" Chojuro shouted. He could see that the bloodline shinobis were having a tough time dealing with one per squad and now Yami had the focus of 7-8 of them together. The wolf cultists shook their heads as they got hit and looked in the direction from where the stone came.
As they saw Yami, they started growling, the bloodline shinobis got time to take a breather now that they weren't constantly being hunted.
"Take the injured away now." Yami said. Mei and Chojuro were about to stop him but then they saw his Sharingan activate. They were about to ask Yami something when they heard growling sounds from the wolfs.
Apparently, one of the wolf cultists had attacked the other. He then shook his head out of confusion but before he could do something, the wolf cultist that he had attacked, bit him. Skirmishes like this happened all over the place where the wolf cultist attacked each other and was confused for a few seconds, this gave time for their opponent to attack.
"What is happening? Is that a genjutsu?" Mei asked.
Yami nodded and said "They see me when they look at their nearest Wolf cultist so they attack but after attacking, their instincts tell them that they are wrong which leads to them being in confusion. By this time, the one he has attacked also sees this as an attack by me so he replies back with a stronger attack. When this happens more than twice, they have already lost their sanity and are now complete animals which means.." Yami then pointed toward the wolf cultists which made Chojuro and everyone else turn their heads when they saw that the wolf cultists had lost their sanity and were even attacking the stone shinobis due to which the stone shinobis had to start killing them.
"B-But how is this possible? Isn't the genjutsu supposed to wear off when one experiences pain?" Mei asked. This is the first time she had seen Yami use genjutsu and it was terrifying for her.
"Yes, you are right and the genjutsu is supposed to wear off but mine doesn't." Yami said as he smirked. He had the right to be proud of it.
"No jutsu is full proof so what is the trick behind breaking your genjutsu?" Mei asked in a teasing tone and she didn't expect an answer regarding this as no shinobi will disclose the weakness of their jutsus but surprisingly Yami's next line surprised everyone including Zabuza.
"My jutsu has a puzzle, you need to find the imperfection in my genjutsu, which could be anything, the smell of a flower or the texture of the grass. Once you are able to find out that imperfection, you can easily break through my genjutsu.
"H-How can you tell us such a big secret so casually? Did the village and clan permit this? What will you do if the information gets leaked?" Mei bombarded him with questions. She normally keeps her composure in check but knowing the weakness of the genjutsu demon's genjutsu was no small feat.
"It's my own technique so I don't need anyone's permission and I told you because I wanted to. I am tired of people not being able to break through my genjutsu. Do you know how boring it is to kill those who can't even resist?" Yami said. His last sentence sent a shiver down everyone's spine. Mei had felt this very few times in her entire life and it was never this intense. She then saw Yami stretch his hand toward the wolf cultists and the stone shinobis. She saw something fly through the air but before she could confirm it with Yami, she saw the wolf cultists and stone shinobis getting attacked by invisible blades made of wind.
The blades weren't strong enough to kill the shinobis and cultists but multiple of them lead to fatal injuries which made them easy to finish off.
'I didn't see him make a single-hand sign or even call out a jutsu name. He did just tremendous damage to them by just stretching his hand out for a few seconds?' Mei's mind was not in the right state when she saw the genjutsu demon in action. She now understood how all those people and those bases met their end at the hands of a kid.
